We wanted to like it, but were quite disappointed. The former Kaleidoscope was great, but thus far Ace’s Place seems unable to replicate the old vibe. First off, Friday night, 6 pm, beautiful evening — the place was near empty (while the rest of Dresden was hopping). Management has to do something to draw people in — a crowd makes the atmosphere. The food was mediocre at best. The only positive was our waitress who was attentive and pleasant. Improve the food, put on some music, add more selection to the drink menu … just a few suggestions. Hope these guys are able to make this work but significant improvement is needed if this place is going to fly.

What a comeback story! If you remember Kaleidoscope, you know this corner used to be one of the best neighborhood hangs around. Then it lost its way for a while — but Ace’s Place has brought the heart (and the crowd) back. Dave (Ace), who runs it now, works tirelessly to make this place welcoming, fun, and full of life. Bingo nights to supporting local high school arts, local police, fireman, and if there is any reason to celebrate they are on it! You should have seen his outfit for the 4th! This the kind of person every neighborhood needs more of. The atmosphere? Fun, friendly, and always something going on. Last weekend? Mini pool out for the pups. Next weekend? Who knows — but it’ll be good. And when the grill is going, it’s unbeatable. It’s a real neighborhood bar again — the kind of place where you’re greeted with a smile, and probably leave with a few new friends. Go support Dave. Ace’s Place is the spot.

This place is absolutely awesome I visited them about a week ago during their Sunday brunch. They offered $20 Bottomless mimosas and the outdoor patio was a great place to enjoy any meal any time of day. We had an epic time on the patio was filled with high energy. We were there celebrating a birthday and when we sang Happy Birthday or celebrated other tables started singing with us and started chanting with us. So we did the same to the other parties and it was sooo fun. The menu items were priced very reasonably and did I say the mimosas were off the chain? They were. I ordered a tuna Tatar and it was unbelievably amazing and I don't even eat raw fish. I also had a taste of a chicken taco that was amazing. I highly recommend this place for great food and a great time.

Nice place for lunch. Food and staff were very good. Unfortunately they only served craft beers with no major brands… for those who are not familiar with the many craft breweries. We also were seated on a rear table, right next to the kitchen which was unfortunate. Our adjacent table also had chairs added at the end, that made it quite tight. We had burgers, a chicken sandwich and Cobb Salad. Parking available behind the shops.
