I first went to afuri when it was located in old town close to voodoo donuts back in August and October and it was amazing I couldn't stop gushing about it. When I visited Portland afuri was the first place I was gonna stop by. To my surprise it no longer was located there so I went to the new location and I wanted to order the same thing I got last time and I showed the server the picture on the left and she said that they no longer had certain things. I notice the menu was very different and she confirmed that the menu has changed. I definitely noticed a difference in the food. The flavor wasn't there anymore. I definitely saw a change. I was very sad about it because to me this was the best ramen I had ever tasted now the flavor and spice is not there anymore. I have 2 pictures from when I was in afuri. one (left) is from October and the other was just this week and the difference is very evident followed by the flavor. Even the spicy paste was very different. I wish the quality and taste was the same as last time. I'm very optimistic and I'll stop by again next time I come to Portland.

Walked in on a Friday around 8:30 and was able to be seated for two with no wait! Absolutely loved the open concept and being able to see the kitchen was a big plus. Our waiter, Sawyer, was amazing, and the service was great from start to finish! Now for the food! We ordered the Karaage to start, followed by the Futo Maki and Hiramasa Uramaki rolls, and the Tonkotsu Tantanmen Ramen. The Karaage was delicious and is a must-try!The rolls were well layered with interesting flavors and the fish was fresh. We felt that the Tonkotsu Tantanmen fell a bit flat and ultimately was not the star of the show. Overall, the experience was good, the flavors felt elevated and intentional, and the prices were reasonable. If you’re looking for a mid range budget friendly date night or semi-casual outing, I’d recommend giving Afuri Izayaka a try!

This place really hit the spot. Yeah it can be a bit pricey, but their flavors and texture is so on point that it's worth it. Since it's getting a little warmer in Portland, we opted to not get ramen this time in favor of sides and cold noodles. We got the vegetarian goma mazamen (cold sesame noodles), eggplant skewers (veg), salmon roll and fresh pea salad (yay veg). We were blown away by the flavors of all the dishes, particularly the vegetarian ones. Salmon roll was ok and not as stand out as their yellowtail roll I had last time. Lastly, their roasted komba ice cream was special. It reminds me of Takibi's (another Portland Japanese restaurant) roasted hay ice cream. I need a tub of that ice cream. Everything generally was so exceedingly good that I still need to give five stars. I also love that they always do a few vegetarian friendly dishes for each of their sections especially in a city like Portland where vegetarianism is a huge thing. Their flavor combos are amazing and my vegetarian partner and I were gushing over how we want to come back.

I absolutely loved this place! We came here while on vacation in Portland and I am so happy we found this place. The atmosphere was so cool, there is so much to look at. The ramen and goyza was unbelievable! I wish I lived closer to this location as I would be a regular.

The beautiful space was the highlight of the dining experience. Food was forgettable and not something I’d return for. Very unfortunate that chicken thigh would be that dry. Noodles were fine. Service was obnoxious.
