I’ve tried a couple studios around Austin but Amano is definitely my favorite. Such a collaborative environment, great ownership/management, and everyone here is so nice. The space is small, but very well kept and clean. I’m still somewhat new to pottery so it’s so helpful getting feedback and ideas from Hector/Andrea and the other members. I also did the date night with a bunch of friends and it was so much fun! They were all really excited about the pieces they made. Plus it’s next to Soup Peddeler.

What an amazing experience! I brought my wife here for a pottery-making date, and we had such a fun time. We each made three pieces and even got to decorate them. Our instructor was fantastic, so helpful, passionate, and really knew their stuff. We learned a ton and left feeling inspired to keep doing pottery!

Without giving anything away, it was a Saturday well spent. The space is comfortable and the instructor truly takes his time to explain the process. There's a great balance of freedom, fun, and exploration with the craft. If you've been wanting to try this for a while, this is the place!

Great, independently owned little studio in south Austin right off first street. The lead instructor, Hector, is a former production potter with a friendly, easy demeanor. It’s a Cone 6 firing studio with relatively limited glaze options, but they make up for it with friendly owners, great open studio options, and lots of entry level classes and workshops for people just getting into the craft.
