A clean, modern and central blood donation hub for Chicago with competent staff and new equipment. Street parking are available on the entrance side. To get in on weekends you need to ring the bel and take the elevator to third floor.

I visited this Red Cross Chapter to teach an instructor CPR course. The building was closed to the general public due to the COVID-19 situation, but the staff that were there to assist with our needs were very polite. The building had health screening checkpoints in the front entrance with a volunteer there to greet visitors & assist with the health screening questions. They also were able to provide directions to people coming off the street while needed emergency assistance. The building was clean and very modern/professional looking.

Had a good experience donating platelets at this location (my first platelet donation!). I went on the weekend when the building front desk isn't always staffed, but they have a buzzer to let you in--if the volunteer forgets to tell you, the donation center is on the third floor. This center uses dual needle apheresis for platelets, which has you hooked up with needles in both elbows for 1.5-2 hours. The chairs for giving platelets let you recline with your legs up, which I'm sure helped keep me from feeling too woozy about the needles, and each seat is set up with a TV, roku and headphones. I had some issues staying comfortable during the donation process and the staff were always responsive in helping. They brought a fan and wet compresses when I said I can get faint and hot, and helped reposition my arms when they got uncomfortable. After donating I was directed to a café area where they had water, coffee, and snacks. Everything went smoothly and I felt great about the whole procedure.
