ATX Gyro on Rio Grande Street in Austin’s West Campus is a vibrant, late‑night Mediterranean food‑truck standout. Open nightly into the early hours (as late as 3–4 AM on weekends) it’s the go‑to for UT students and locals craving falafel, shawarma, or juicy lamb gyros over rice . The food consistently earns praise for bold flavor and fresh ingredients. The Gyro Over Rice gets top marks—tender lamb, crisp veggies, tangy tzatziki and hot sauce over hearty basmati—“great meat and rice which resonates me very well,” one delivery review raves . The Chicken Shawarma Over Rice is another favorite: “perfect amount of spices, sauce, protein,” and more than 89% positive feedback . Vegetarian options like falafel wraps and plates shine too, earning praise for fresh flavor and generous portioning (). Customer service is warm and welcoming—Chef Ahmed and his team make a friendly impression . Expect speedy prep and seamless takeout, especially after a night out. Seating is casual—either picnic‑style tables or food‑court benches—but the laid‑back vibe fits right into the West Campus energy . Pricing is very reasonable (around $11–$16 for wrap or plate), considering generous portions and flavor quality.

Plenty more options within a .5 mile radius for better and cheaper shawarma and gyro. I ordered 2 entrees and asked for a few extra napkins and dude snapped at me saying “YOU ONLY BUY 2 ENTREE, YOU ONLY GET 2 NAPKINS, BUY MORE NAPKINS IF YOU WANT! Keep in mind I left a $5 tip on a $20 order. Service has always sucked but from reading other reviews of this dude, def not going back.

Absolutely trash. Disrespectful people stealing from others. We ordered 5 rice bowls and gave us four and snatched our receipts being rude telling us to not act cheap. Told him to look and count extremely rude and disrespectful. We had to pay extra to get food we already paid for.
