Why AuH2O is a fun option when searching for things to do near me with friends and family

AuH2O is an innovative thrift store located in the East Village that offers a vibrant, eco-conscious shopping experience. Founded by Kate Goldwater, the store specializes in repurposed and carefully curated vintage clothing, making it a perfect place for friends to gather and explore unique fashion finds. The store’s name, AuH2O, reflects a clever blend of the chemical symbols for gold (Au) and water (H2O), symbolizing creativity and renewal. AuH2O not only provides a sustainable alternative to fast fashion but also offers personalized service, giving shoppers an opportunity to discover one-of-a-kind items with a story. The welcoming, stylish atmosphere encourages social interaction and shared appreciation for environmental responsibility in fashion. Highlights include expertly sourced thrift items, affordable price points that reflect Goldwater’s business model of buying at a fraction of resale price, and a legacy of over a decade of consistent operation since 2013. Even as founder Goldwater has transitioned to spending more time supporting her family and living in Virginia, AuH2O continues to run successfully, proving its strong community presence and appeal.

Customer reviews for AuH2O overwhelmingly praise its curated selection of vintage and repurposed clothing, remarking on the quality, uniqueness, and affordability of the pieces. Shoppers appreciate the store’s ethos of combining fashion with social justice and environmental awareness, which adds meaningful value beyond just the merchandise. Leah was amazing! Through her I got to learn about the store and the buying/selling process. She very attentive to the customers and has good energy that radiates through the store. The store has very affordable nicely curated pieces. I got a very lovely $10 hoodie. People really like the jewelry pieces! If you are shopping around for second-hand items around East village I would recommend this to be a first stop, check it out and you can go to the bigger stores if you cannot find what you are looking for!

Leyah was fantastic! She was so warm, friendly, and genuine. Overall, I really appreciated the selection and the pricing. There were some great items. It’s very fair, which is rare to find in New York anymore. Thank you to the owner, Kate. As your neighbor (I live right around the corner) I’ll be continuing to come in here!

Fantastic Selection. Its curated and a bit more feminine forward. The prices are accessible to all people, which is lovely to see especially because a lot of big box stores jack up the prices just because they can. You can tell they work very hard to make sure they can keep the business going and keep the prices affordable. Me and 2 others all found stuff to take home which doesn't always happen, which made us very happy. The worker was so sweet and helpful. You can tell this store is in it for the right reasons and truly what secondhand stores are supposed to be. I thrift in every city I go to around the world and this is a cute lil treasure. BY FAR the best one I have found in New York City helping people with access to sustainability and fun! LOVE LOVE LOVE :)
