The animals appeared sad and stressed. We prioritized seeing the animals before buying tokens to pet or to feed them.I am glad we didn't purchase the tokens. Each exhibit had specific rules, generally limiting petting to two fingers, with the exception of the sloth, which required the back of the hand. We observed animal handlers strictly enforcing the two-finger petting rule. In one of the lemur exhibits, a simulated alpha animal noise was played, startling a lemur and causing it to vocalize. Most lemurs are nocturnal, yet many were exposed to bright spotlights. Loud, Disney-style music played while a woman dressed as a mermaid was at a photo booth, and another woman dressed as a fairy walked around. Loud announcements were made frequently about what animals were ready to be touched. Additional attractions included a booth for custom drawings, a hurricane experience simulation, and a large eating area with a concession stand at the back. Baby alligators were fed, then had their mouths taped shut so people could pet them. In the wallaby exhibit, it was evident the animals desired to be left undisturbed. The bat rays frequently surfaced for food, appearing innocent and friendly but it was clearly indicating hunger. A single eel was confined to a small cylindrical enclosure. A moderately sized gift shop was located near the entrance. The entire experience felt highly commercialized and geared towards encouraging children to spend money. While I enjoyed seeing the animals, it saddened me to consider that they endure loud music, screaming children, bright lights, and constant touching for eight hours daily. I imagine they are happiest when everyone leaves for the night. My favorite part of the experience was observing a tiny armadillo running around in the sloth exhibit, which was pretty cute. The cost for two adults was $62.42 and we stayed for an hour before leaving.

Wow wow wow! What an unexpected, incredible experience! We are visiting Texas while our daughter visits a local college and decided to visit the aquarium. We were expecting it to be a 1-hour visit but were very surprised when we noticed 4 hours had gone by. The place has so much more than fish and should probably consider a rebranding as the current title is very limiting compared to what is really going on. If you are in the area, you need to visit this place! Ty and Jay were both knowledgeable and willing to share more than what was scripted. They made the experience extra special!

Crowded. Lots of school groups. Bought the sloth experience (50$ per person) right when we arrived. We were first on the list. I had to inquire about when we get to do it 3 times with the reply being that weight & health check need to be done. After two hours, I asked for a refund as we had to leave. They immediately said we could go in. It was very controlled & the worker was the one interacting with the sloth. My mom got to offer it a piece of cucumber and stroke the side twice before being told that was enough. I was able to touch it once. While the handler continued to feed & pet it. My mom and i were calm, quiet, and respectful. The wait & experience was not worth it. The sting rays & the bird experience were enjoyable. There was a good variety of animals to see. We purchased tickets on line, but you still have to wait in line at entrance.

I visited with my family and had a great time. There's a lot of animals to see and you can pay extra to interact with them. It's more like an exotic petting zoo than an aquarium but still very cool. Had a lovely encounter with Helena who was very friendly and knowledgeable about the porcupine. The aquarium is kind of small but overall the place is very cool and I recommend to families or for couples who want a cute date
