My daughter has been taking private lessons with Janet for the past six months and it has been a truly wonderful experience. Each session is full of joy, and what makes it so special is that the lesson themes are chosen by the child. They've had the chance to explore many different painting styles and materials. It feels like magic — the artworks are entirely created by the child, yet the quality is impressive. Janet gently guides the process, teaching useful techniques and offering thoughtful advice on color choices. We’re so grateful for this creative and inspiring environment!

Janet has been my teacher for more than 15 years. She is a master teacher. She has the talent of seeing your work, and raising your talent, with her direct, yet gentle and relaxed guidance. Every time I see Janet, I feel nourished in my creativity and expanded in my technique. I highly recommend working with Janet! You will not regret it!

I have been taking lessons at AWE studio for many years now, and plan to for as long as possible! I started taking lessons from her weekly in high school, and I still am at 32. I love the relaxing environment of the studio, and how cozy it is! It helps me get my creativity flowing. In addition, Janet is knowledgeable, personable, kind, encouraging, and teaches you art in a way that truly makes you feel good and love doing it! Each lesson is geared to the specific student, their goals, and level. I get to choose the medium I want to learn, a reference for the piece, and work on it until it is completed. I have learned everything from charcoal, graphite, pastels, watercolor, and oil painting. Learning art from Janet, her encouraging nature, and her teaching style are what helped me have the courage and confidence to go back to school pursue art! She is an amazing mentor to me and is why I always come back to have lessons with her! I highly encourage this studio for anyone,of any age, who are looking to learn art skills or fine tune their skills!

I have been taking private art lessons with Janet for a year and a half. For the first year, I came to her studio space to explore gouache, watercolor, charcoal drawing, watercolor pencil and pastel with great success. I am truly proud of so many of the final pieces I have completed. I feel that my skills as an artist have improved greatly under her careful and personalized guidance. Since the pandemic began, she has been offering private lessons via Zoom. It has been a fantastic experience to continue my progress safely from home. Janet is a highly adaptable and effective art teacher. Our Zoom sessions have been very healing for my mind and heart during the stress of the pandemic. I truly look forward to them every week. I have now begun using acrylic paints for the first time with her remote instruction! I tilt my computer's video camera toward the piece I am working on, and she guides me along as I paint or draw. It works surprisingly well to receive instruction this way, and has been a ton of fun! I highly recommend AWE studio if you are looking for an art class for yourself or your child. It's a great way to stay creative, build real artistic skill and stave off the boredom and isolation of the pandemic.

I reached out to this place for possible lessons and was told i would be emailed. This never happened. I don't know if it was because I shared that I was disabled in a wheelchair or what. But, what I do know is I wouldn't want to support a business like this that has no follow through.
