Ballast Point Brewing has a solid beer and cider menu, including a cider that tastes like Mountain Dew Baja Blast. Their appetizers are also solid—would recommend the nachos. Unfortunately, it’s in the landing flight path for SAN airport and planes fly low overhead every 3-6 minutes, so it’s really difficult to have a conversation with friends on the patio.

Beers here are always on point, no pun intended. Recommend the flights if you haven't tried any of their beers. Their are mainly known for their ipas and haze beers. Staff is super knowledgeable if you are unsure of what to try. Haze in the park is my favorite of the beers they have. The food, unfortunately, is slightly above average. On my first visit, i got the grilled chicken sandwich with pineapple Pico(not pictured). Chicken was a little dry, and the Pico didn't add all too much to the sandwich. Therefore, the sandwich ended up a 3/5 for me. My second visit i got was the catch of the day, served with mash potatoes and Brussel sprouts. The fish was crispy and fresh and the capers add such a wonderful pop of brine to it. Mash was nice and creamy and perfectly seasoned. However, the Brussel sprouts were not cooked fully and were still hard, which brought the dish as a whole down. Ended up being another 3/5 for me. Still will return and continue trying different dishes because this place is still a solid go to in my book.
