5 stars – I had an incredible experience renting a Norco Optic from Base Camp Cyclery today. The bike ride was awesome, but what truly made it unforgettable was the exceptional service. The shop owner—who didn’t even have to come in—arrived on his day off to make sure I had the bike I needed. That level of dedication and going the extra mile, especially for someone connected through a friend, is absolutely unparalleled. Thank you, Base Camp—your generosity and service truly made my day, and I can’t wait to ride with you again!

I really hate to write a negative review of a local business, but in good conscience I have to warn others. I stopped in the Platt Park location today (3/18/25) to drop my mountain bike off for a tune and ask a question about the rear suspension. After a nice gentleman (not sure of his name) brought me upstairs to check my bike in, a fascinating yet extremely disappointing experience occurred. Maurice, the bike tech upstairs, was extremely annoyed from the second the other employee and I arrived upstairs, stating he was busy, 'so this better be quick.' He proceeded to exude annoyance, arrogance, and disdain at the fact a customer was there. Then Maurice, unprompted, started making fun of the fact my bike brand (Specialized). Every single moment of the conversation was just another jab or snide remark that I was there... in a bike shop... to drop my bike for a tune. I guess they don't like money? Then he said I had 5 minutes to tell him exactly what I needed before he had to go to a meeting. I just said I needed a tune. As he was clearly annoyed and rushing to collect my information, he was being so rude I told him nevermind, I'll just find another shop or come back another time they weren't so busy. He couldn't have gotten my bike down from the stand fast enough nor have been happier to have potential customer leave. Maurice, go touch grass. And for the shop owners, good luck staying in business with an employee like this. I'll be going to another shop despite you being a block from my house. Highly recommend AVOIDING this shop at all costs.

Base Camp Cyclery is hands down one of the best bike shops around! As a small business, they truly go above and beyond with incredible customer service. The staff was super friendly, knowledgeable, and never tried to upsell me on anything I didn’t need just honest, high-quality service. It’s refreshing to find a shop that genuinely cares about their customers and the cycling community. If you're looking for expert service with a personal touch, this is the place to go. Highly recommend!

Although I haven’t purchased a bike from these guys yet, I had my bike serviced by them and also purchased gear. I’ve found everybody in the shop to be super helpful, kind, and knowledgeable. The bike service was top-notch…my ride nearly peddles itself up Mt Falcon these days😎 You won’t be disappointed. My next bike will be purchased from Base Camp! Thanks guys 🤙🏽
Life Behind Bars
The few times I have visited this store, I always get treated like a "Fred" who doesnt know anything about bikes or just got into cycling, by the lead tech. I usually do my own maintenance on all my bikes but sometimes I pay to have maintenance done because I just don't have the time. I'm an aggressive rider who rides all disciplines of cycling including gravel, road, trail, all mtn, ebike & park and have been cycling/ riding for almost 30 years. I brought my Orbea Wild to them to replace the cranks and have rear wheel trued. After checking all the work the day after I picked up my bike, I found the bike tech left the pedals on my cranks so loose I could remove them with my hand. This mistake could have seriously injured me had a pedal come off while riding the enduro trails I frequent with this bike. Needless to say, I won't visit this store again. Its really unfortunate that you can't find a good tech who will work on your bike as if its their own bike.
