I’ve been a regular at Ben Avery Shooting Range for a while now, and I have nothing but praise for the entire experience—except for one particular wrinkle on the weekends if you plan to shoot trap. First off, I love it here. Whether you’re into pistols, rifles, or even bows, the range offers a fantastic variety to keep any shooter busy. The facilities are well-maintained, and the setup is perfect for honing your skills on every type of firearm and even archery. It’s one of those places where the joy of shooting is embraced in its fullest sense. The staff is genuinely exceptional. The range masters are nothing short of a godsend: knowledgeable, friendly, and always ready to offer guidance if you need it. Their passion for shooting and safety is infectious, and they go above and beyond to ensure everyone has a great, secure time at the range. That said, if trap is your game, there’s a heads-up: the trap stations on weekends tend to attract a regular group of old guys who seem to thrive on an abrasive “range mentality.” Every weekend, they consistently take the first trap station, and their approach can be less than welcoming. They’re known for yelling and cursing, offering no advice or guidance—just a barrage of comments that might make you feel small. While I understand that sometimes you encounter tough crowds at shooting ranges, these guys are a special case; if you’re shooting trap, be prepared to potentially be talked down to. If you're new to clays, I would recommend trying Skeet or Sporting Clays instead. At those stations, you’ll find plenty of friendly enthusiasts who love sharing their knowledge and helping beginners improve their skills. It's a much more supportive environment if you're starting out. In summary, Ben Avery Shooting Range is an excellent spot for all kinds of shooting activities, with stellar staff and top-notch range facilities. Just keep in mind that if you’re planning to shoot trap on a weekend, you might encounter some gruff regulars who could dampen the vibe. Otherwise, it’s a fantastic place to enjoy the sport.

I had a fantastic experience today shooting sporting clays. You can rent a shotgun, my man David helped me out very well. He gave some good tips and accompanied me. PULL! It was good fun cowboy! Haha Greetings from Amsterdam. Hope to be back soon!

I was very disappointed with my visit today. I thought this would be a good place to go if I just wanted to casually get in some practice on the sporting clays range. What I found was 8 stations with so many other people waiting that it took 20 minutes to get on one. There was no organization to it. But as soon as I did get on a station I had three other people standing ten feet behind me pressuring me to leave. They don’t do refunds so I was offered store credit that I’ll never use. Awful. Go to Usery.

I've been an AZ resident since the mid 60's. Used to come out for boy scouts merit badges and gun safety courses .This place continues to grow and has great people. We're lucky to have it. Not only a great place to practice but teaching young people safety is paramount.

The shooting clay center is phenomenal, and their location makes it easy to do even 30 minutes of shooting without feeling like it's an all-day adventure. Reasonable prices on ammunition but you're welcome to bring your own with limited restrictions. Clean bathrooms and a well-stocked pro shop. A must visit for sport shooting enthusiasts.
