Part of bluff top trail along pleasure point in Capitola. Always beautiful and a good spot to watch the surfers, or play on small beach when the tide is out

Great pathway to and from West Cliff. Never know who, or what you may see there.

Bethany Curve at sunset was very beautiful. It was crowded at several locations even during the pandemic with about 60% of people wearing masks. However, most were respectful when keeping their distance. There were plenty of spots near the cliffs (please be careful if you visit as some are dangerous) to be able to take in the scenery. I recommend coming 45 minutes before sunset to find parking along Cliff Drive and get to a spot with a great view of the sun hitting the water.

Bethany Curve is the name of a small curved street in the Circles neighborhood, and also the name of the very pleasant greenbelt that runs along the creek and walking path between Delaware and W Cliff. This little park is very dog friendly, and even has some doggy playground equipment. Just about everyone who comes here is either walking their dog or simply walking through on the path, so it's very much a part of the neighborhood. When I moved here some years ago we just called it "the frog path" because there are sometimes frogs in the creek. I've never heard anyone refer to the park itself as "Bethany Curve", but I guess somebody does.

Tips for Making the Most of Your Bethany Curve Meetup

To ensure your group meetup at Bethany Curve is as enjoyable as possible, a few simple tips can make all the difference. Arrive early if you’re planning a larger gathering, especially on weekends or during local events, to secure your ideal spot along the walkway or on the nearby grassy areas. Bring layers—coastal weather can shift quickly, and having a sweatshirt or light jacket on hand will keep everyone comfortable, even if the fog rolls in. Consider packing reusable water bottles, sunscreen, and a comfortable blanket or portable chairs; these small comforts make it easy to relax and settle in for the day.

Encourage your group to try something new together, whether that’s renting bikes, playing a group game, or simply exploring the tide pools at low tide. Bring a Bluetooth speaker for background music (keeping the volume respectful for others), and consider coordinating a potluck or snack-sharing plan so everyone can sample different treats. For families, pack small toys, books, or drawing supplies to keep kids engaged, and remember that leashed pets are welcome, so furry friends can join the fun.

Take advantage of nearby local businesses for last-minute supplies or takeout meals—Santa Cruz is known for its farm-to-table fare, artisanal coffee, and inventive food trucks, many of which are within walking distance.
