This place is great. The shop dog is awesome and the apparel is cool with unique items beyond what you usually find online or at other shops. Don't get me wrong, I like salty, rip curl, billabong etc but I can find that anywhere but Birds has unique stuff. Guy working there was friendly and interesting too!

I’ve listened to Bird’s surf report for a decade, and just hearing his voice makes me grin, even out in the desert, no waves in sight. On our recent visit back to San Diego, we decided what the hell, let’s be tourists and go check out the shed. Lo and behold, there was Eric “Bird” Huffman, working on a board alongside his son Jackson and dogs Hector and Django. Total wildest-dreams moment when Bird came over and chatted with us, posed for pictures, and told us about the shop, with details about the original graphics artwork (“board barrel” and more). Absolute fun in every way, and he and Jackson were as gracious, funny, and all-around kind as they could be. Whether you’re a surfer or just an admirer, stop in, talk with Bird, play with Hector and Django, and fill up on merch and sticker swag. Beyond the amazing boards, there are plenty of beach essentials to check out too. I walked away totally stoked, having met the legend behind the voice and geared up with a hat, shirts, and a poster and stickers (also picked up a few goods at the sister shop, the Shed OB). Coolest stop you can make in all of San Diego — “wow” all the way!

Went there in July vacationing from Hawaii and was BLOWN away ....... I was like a kid in a candy store and took me back to childhood dreams and met Bird. He was the NICEST guy ever and was like an encyclopedia of surf knowledge. We were SO impressed we bought him and his crew a couple dozen of donuts from his favorite donut shop out back. Can't wait to return! Great family man too.

This is the place! Look no farther. A 67 year old retired coal miner catches his first wave. Stumbled on to this place looking for DaFin swim fins and came out with a 9’ surfboard (and the fins). The staff were so friendly and patient with me. They gave me some totally beginner tips. They were so unbelievably patient with a total newb. With their advice, that afternoon, I eventually caught my first wave. Their help was so essential to be able to stand up by the end of the day. I was totally exhausted but totally thrilled with my progress. The feeling of the power of the waves is indescribable. No question was too silly and I never felt intimidated. This coal miner will always be grateful to the “Bird’s Surf Shed”. May they always prosper

Great place! If you are looking for a surfboard you want to stop by and talk to Francois, Bird , his son Jackson and the team, they are so knowledgeable about boards and really care about you leaving with the right gear for you. I went to the Shed and the next day tested a board in the OB Shed and came back a 3rd day , we discussed several boards and fins configurations. Could not be happier with my new board. Strongly recommend the Shed as a to go place for anything surf related, world class spot.
