I came on a weekday night and it was quite empty. There are specials/discounts. The staff were fantastic. They were helpful and showed us different trick shots to do. They told us about different games that we could play. Two hours is plenty of time to play ! This would be a good group activity or date night. We made reservations online and came in to sign the waiver ( could do it before hand). They put a paper band on you which they will mark once you have a drink. There are some nonalcoholic drinks. I don't remember seeing water cups. Overall seems on par with other places I been ( similar rugged vibes). There was only one axe as a throwing option. I been to places where there are ninja stars.

B and I agreed that rather than give each other "stuff" for the holidays, we would give each other experiences. So, what is the right experience for our first holiday gift? Walk through Pike Place? Too quotidian. Sky diving? Too exciting. Neither of us are race car drivers or cross country runners. While I considered ideas, B mentioned that she had never gone axe throwing. By a strange coincidence, neither had I. I have no idea where she got the idea, but it seemed like a good one. I jumped on Google to see if there was some place nearby to give that a try. There were a surprising number of venues. Most of the venues also served beer. That seemed like an odd combination. We picked Blade and Timber mainly based on the fact that it was nearby. Making a reservation on their website was easy. There was availability at just about any of the times they offered. The website recommended getting there 15 minutes early to allow time for parking and to fill out the waiver. B thought that hunting for parking would be a pain, so we reserved a spot in a nearby garage. It was a cold night, but dry, so walking a couple of blocks was not a big deal. We were greeted at the front counter by Kristen. She pointed at a QR code where we could access the liability waiver. As you might imagine, there are some inherent dangers in throwing sharp axes around. We read the waiver, accepted the risk and signed. Kristen took a small axe from the inventory and led us to a caged area with a large wooden target at one end. She covered some safety rules and then showed us two different techniques for throwing the axe. She made it look easy, but when we tried we discovered that it does take some skill. Another thing is that throwing axes is noisy. B used ear plugs to keep from jumping every time an axe thumped the wall in one of the 18 lanes. Over the hour and a half that we were there, we got good enough to hit the target as often as not. Throwing axes is as fun as it is hard. Kristen came by from time to time to offer advice and make sure we had enough to drink. My bank is laughing at me for spending nearly $90, but we had enough fun to make it worth it.

Had an OK experience at Blade & Timber. The online reservation was a bit annoying to deal with. Prices were a bit deceiving $124 for a lane (but it is only for 4 people), if you add more (up to 6) it is $31/head. You get a 1.5 hour block. Staff was a bit awkward. Most of the group was not familiar with axe throwing...they spent quite a bit of time "instructing" and then just let us go at it. It was even more awkward at the end when the instructor decided to spend 10 min of his time to show "trick shots" when no one really asked and we were all just awkwardly standing there while he threw and waited for him to finish. It's cool that they serve beer, but it definitely is a bit over priced. I was assuming drafts were available, but just having cans for $6-7 is on the pricier end. To top off the awkwardness, when I went to pay for the group, I already had a coupon applied via email, but the instructor said he took a discount off the top for us (receipt said birthday discount), when I already applied it on my res online. He thought he was doing us a favor, when I already had the discount online... Majority of the group had a good time (barring the odd instructor pauses), which is why it is saving it from a 1-2 star review, but from what I was expecting...definitely not as good of a time as I thought. Good spot to hang out, but its definitely on the pricier end. Weird to have a line asking for tip, since if anything, the instructor just ate into our time to throw axes. Still, was feeling nice, and tipped normally. Street parking only.

Have gone twice, first for a birthday – can't remember the coach but they did well accommodating the guests! Second time my partner and I were coached by Ross, he was very helpful explaining the rules and games as well as regularly coming by to check on us and make sure we were enjoying our time, we appreciate the tips and adjustments to be able to hit the target haha
