This was my first time experiencing Bonchon, it was recommended by a family member who said “it’s his favourite fast food restaurant.” We decided to order it during our Chicago trip and in all honesty it was delicious, their signature fried chicken was brilliantly marinated. I genuinely enjoyed it and would definitely recommend it.

Should’ve listened to the review I saw last week that said the chicken was salty BECAUSE IT WAS- it really was. That’s on me for giving this place the benefit of the doubt. The chicken tasted more like salty batter than actual meat. If you like chewing on seasoned crust and pretending there’s chicken inside, this might be for you. The water is straight up tap water. Maybe that’s normal in Chicago?? I don’t know as I’m not from there. But pairing salted chicken with tap water? Not exactly my dream flavor combo. Service was... fine? Not great. I dropped the little plate they give you when you sit down (yes, totally my fault- FYI it did not break) The staff saw, heard, and decisively chose to do absolutely nothing.. because everyone around us saw and heard and it’s a small area. But no offer to replace it.. I guess I was just meant to vibe with the germs. :D We went around 9 PM, so yes, it was packed. That’s fair. But apparently here, even while you're stuck waiting, you’re not allowed to look at the menu? Not sure how that helps anyone. Seems like an odd choice for a busy restaurant… wouldn't it make sense to let your next customers know what they want before they sit down? We also tried the japchae, which was... there. I’ve had better. The sauce wasn’t properly mixed?? The noodles ended up tasting soggy and separate like two parts of a dish that hadn’t quite met yet. Would I go back? Let’s just say I’ll be listening to reviews next time.

The service was wonderful. Everyone was so nice and attentive. There was a bit of a wait but not long. But the food was so mid. It lacked flavor, it was a bit bland.

The food taste great but stop being cheap ! A 15 piece drumstick and this side not even filled ? It’s not even half filled. 2nd time this has happened . First time I thought it was a mistake . Going to mess up a good experience with a side that serves one person .

The Korean fried chicken is battered and fried differently from other places, the crust has a smoother texture but is still very crispy and forms a very nice shell around the meat. The meat remains tender and juicy. Great fried chicken. Sauce is just above average, and I wish they would put more. Decent value.

For groups, this means no one has to settle for less than perfect chicken—from the first bite to the last. The careful application of signature sauces — soy garlic or spicy yangnyeom — without drowning the chicken means flavors are balanced yet bold, enhancing the social sharing experience without messiness overwhelming the table. This precision in preparation supports a lively, hands-on atmosphere where friends are encouraged to dig in together and share plates, creating a warm and communal dining environment. It’s an experience that not only satiates hunger but also fosters togetherness over a shared love of great food.
