Why Bramble & Hare Bistro is a fun option when searching for things to do near me with friends and family

Bramble & Hare Bistro in Boulder, Colorado, offers a unique dining experience that beautifully blends farm-to-table freshness with warm, inviting hospitality. Founded in 2012 by Jill and Chef Eric Skokan, the bistro is designed to evoke the charm and comfort of a Basque countryside auberge, bridging the gap between fine dining and the warmth of a farmhouse kitchen. This relation is highlighted by their direct connection to Black Cat Farm, located less than 10 miles away, where they cultivate organic vegetables and raise pasture-fed livestock without hormones or antibiotics. The menu changes daily to feature freshly harvested ingredients, delivering an authentic taste of the region’s bounty. The intimate and eclectic atmosphere, characterized by wood-paneled walls, velvet chairs, and a cozy, Victorian-parlor feel, makes it an excellent spot for friends to gather. Patrons can appreciate dishes like slow-roasted lamb shoulder or inventive pork entrees paired with innovative cocktails. The friendly, knowledgeable staff and the commitment to sustainability enhance the overall experience, making Bramble & Hare not only a great place for a meal but also a celebration of local farming and culinary artistry.

We had an impromptu date night here with our baby. The $75 tasting menu is quite filling. We liked that you could pick two appetizers and skip dessert if you wanted. I’m giving it 4 stars because one of the entrees was badly done, which for the quality of this restaurant and the price is a shame: the Tunis lamb. It was chewy and overcooked (and the waiter even told us chef recommended medium rare, which we agreed to…it was almost well done). The polenta was the best part of the fish. The pork on the other hand was tender and delicious. We also had the pork belly (excellent, the baba ganoush was wonderfully smoky), the stuffed jalapeño (more mild than we were expecting but still good), and the fois gras (wonderful apple accompaniment). For dessert we had the strawberry chocolate mousse, which is actually strawberry mousse with a hunk of dark chocolate ganache in the middle. The other note is that there is no changing table in either bathroom. This place probably doesn’t get a lot of babies but we were disappointed that we had to change the baby in the car.
