We came here because the wait at Little Griddle was too long. The staff was nice, but this is an “order at the counter, pick up at the counter, and bus yourself” restaurant. That’s fine, but not for $44 for two breakfasts and two coffees before tip. The food was okay. The brisket hash is a stew, not really a hash. It was good just keep it on the dinner menu. The Three B’s from the waffle window was just fine as well. Presentation was underwhelming. Brie and bacon haphazardly thrown on a waffle with a pinch of basil, we could have made this at home. We don’t have before photos (we forgot). The atmosphere is a large dining hall. Good morning campers. We won’t be back, but I wish them luck in the next recession.

We used to love this place and had the best Mother’s Day brunch there some years ago. Now, you wait in line with a menu, order at a register, grab your own water, silverware and bus your own table. Odd for how somewhat elegant it was in the past with its lovely cloth covered tables and professional servers. The chicken and waffles and fruit and waffles are quite good, as The “Waffle Window” is probably the main contributor to this restaurant now. It was a popular side window years ago, but really took off. So, Bread and Ink just feels like a large room you eat your to-go food in. The folks behind the counter are friendly and were good about making some small substitutions for us. The biscuits and gravy were a real disappointment though. It was a massive amount of bland, almost mashed potato-like gravy that we discovered covered some whole biscuits. See photo. We had to dig around to uncover the biscuits and cut them up. My beef brisket eggs Benedict was delicious. My wife really liked her chicken and waffles. But we probably won’t be back.

Stopped in for a quick bite before I had to rush off to get my haircut. You order at the counter and you get to choose between Bread and Ink Cafe and the Waffle Window. Completely different menus so it really doubles your options. I got the smash burger with waffles fries and my friend ordered 1/2 chicken & waffles. We both shared our meals so we had the best of both worlds. My burger was juicy and had just the right amount of crunchiness. The chicken was also very tender and paired well with the waffle. Will we were there we definitely noticed that they do a lot of delivery app orders so read in to that what you will.

Local breakfast diner specializing in Portland waffles? I didn't care enough to read the difference, I needed something to soak up the previous night's shenanigans. Got the rise and shine, my buzzer, and a bunch of self serve water. Food wise it was ok, I prefer my eggs runny, but wasn't given the choice. Also not sure what syrup they use but it took over everything. I could barely taste the gravy, sausage or hot sauce. It was more sweet than I was expecting on all my savoriness. My real issue was cleanliness? There were quite a few fruit flies. I sat and ate for almost an hour so it didn't hinder my meal, but first impressions. You order and pay up front, then pick up when you buzz, seat and buss yourself. I'm thinking there's better options.

The chicken was nicely seasoned, not dry but could use some salt. The gravy was okay, could have been better if the chicken or the gravy had a little more salt in it. The bacon was 10/10. I ordered takeout and unfortunately didn’t receive any ketchup for my potatoes. The waffle reminds me of a Belgium, which is more on the dessert side than breakfast. Overall, I was very satisfied.
