Do NOT take your kids here. Carolyne is VERBALLY ABUSIVE to these kids and I don’t take saying that lightly. She will try and tell your child who they can and cannot talk to, constantly spread lies about other riders, and intentionally tries to turn the girls against one another. She’s told me (an adult) sensitive and personal information about other families that go here and in details that are not her business to share. She will also DAILY threaten your child that she will kick them out of the barn. If you are an adult that tries to speak with her about her behavior, she will damn near sprain her ankle trying to run from you. When I tell you she ran, I mean the kind of running that would take the Polar Express to the North Pole knowing you’re on Santa’s naughty list. The desperation so desperate that you would fly coach on Spirit Airlines, after waiting 3 days on standby, only to be seated next to someone who didn’t wear deodorant. She will tell you “she’s too busy to talk to you”, all while refusing to take accountability for her egregious behavior. She is a coward who gets a thrill from bullying CHILDREN but gets on her golf cart and runs away when adults try and stand up to her. She’s 77. Honestly she’s far too old to be acting like a middle school girl!

My daughter has been riding here for three years and we like Cedar Ridge very much. The horses are treated well and have plenty of pasture space-- they don't spend their lives in stalls or tiny paddocks (although in practice this means everything is a bit muddy in the winter and spring). The lessons are a good length and not too rigid, with the riders allowed to take things at their own pace. Carolyne genuinely cares about the kids but doesn't coddle them, which may make her seem a bit "old school," but we like that. Cedar Ridge is also very affordable, and the opportunity to help at camp in exchange for lessons gives my daughter an invaluable chance to learn about responsibility and hard work.

The Owner barks at the kids all day long. She pits the kids against each other, talks about kids and their parents to other kids and parents. I felt my child was put in uncomfortable situations her first day there. I wanted a fun activity for my daughter to enjoy but the tension just seems to be on high. I don’t usually leave reviews but it just didn’t seem to be a welcoming place.

Outstanding boarding facility (catering to eventers). I have toured many in the area and I can say CREC is one of THE best in terms of the property, facilities, amenities, and housekeeping it offers. If it also had trail access and a stronger lesson program it would be a 5 for me. The indoor arena is light filled instead of a dark dungeon, the barn is always clean, and I know my horse is well fed and cared for.

Had a very lovely camp experience this week. Carolyn was very accommodating and allowed me to hang around and keep an eye on my 5 year old's first real barn experience. After the first day I was perfectly comfortable leaving her there but they still allowed me to stick around and get my own Horsey fix. By the third day my daughter was fine on her own and she bawled her eyes out leaving the last day. She's now counting the days until her next time there. The lesson horses are absolutely lovely, worth their weight in gold. Older, experienced, and gentle with the children. They are the perfect place for young children to start, learn, and make mistakes. If you know horses you can see the absolute focus these horses have on their little rider and know they will be taken care of. My daughter and I are both looking forward to our next time at the barn!
