Rude customer service. They don't do any of their film processing or scanning in house so it'll take 3-4 weeks to get your stuff back. Their film price is highway robbery. As of 7/30/2025, their in-store pricing for some film stocks are: $39.50 for 3-pack Fujifilm 200, $16.99 single roll $45.85 3-pack Fuji 400, $20.95 single roll Such a shame Chicago doesn't have a decent film photography store/lab. Bellows in Wicker Park is serviceable but their film scans leave much to be desired. However their film prices are much more reasonable. If you have time, please order film from places like mpex.com, B&H, continentalphoto and get your film processed at a mail in lab like Brooktree Film lab, theFINDlab, etc. Place like this should be closed so that a better business can take its place.

In depth photography store with loads of new and vintage equipment. The 126 year old building is spectacular. I spoke with Tim at the store and he gave me a brief history and informed me that it was burned down during the riots in 2020 and rehabbed in 2022.

THE place for film photography camera, gear, film, and expert recommendations. Everyone is very nice, helpful, honest, and always have a bargain going. I trust this shop with developing my film, buying camera gear/parts, and even picking out a new camera. A gem of the city, a home for my photographer soul!

Best spot for everything film or camera related. They got every type of 35 mm gear you could want and has the best and cheapest way to develop film that I have found in the city. In such an awesome location too it’s cool to see a small business still strive in the loop. DO NOT go to Walgreens to get your film developed with Central Camera around.

Rude, rude, rude customer service. A friend and I visited Central Camera Company to buy a point and shoot camera. We explain what we are looking for and an older white man responds, "what makes you think that we sell those here?" Then proceeds to walk to where they are located without any further acknowledgement. He pulls out a plastic bin of 5-6 cameras and says, "I recommend you go to Goodwill" and "these are selling for more than they originally sold". Thanks for the transparency, I guess. He then proceeds to take a photo of my friend with the flash on. It was an overall uncomfortable experience and I do not recommend going to Central Camera Company unless you like being belittled.
