Found this local watering hole - what a find! this place is really chill and fun. Great atmosphere, welcoming staff and great drinks, pool table, other games, tvs, funny cardboard cutouts and all around swell place to post up and kick it. The bartender Amber was super cool and had nice cans, bottles and drafts to look at and try out! I'll definitely check it out next time I'm around there!

I've tried the place 3 times despite numerous people in the neighborhood laughing when I've asked about it. i love a good dive bar. 2 times i didn't even know who the bartender was as nobody was behind the bar. i stood at the bar and looked around and waited for someone to come. after a few minutes i just left. one time i did get served, but felt really unwelcomed. it felt like if they don't know who you are, they don't want you there.

This bar is pretty divey. Not the greatest crowd. On the upside they have darts, pool, a jukebox, and TVs. It's okay for a quick, cheap drink, but other than that I'd suggest avoiding it. I was really turned off by this place after the bartender wouldn't serve my friend and I water. No one was in the bar. We asked once and he said he was too busy. We waited five minutes and asked again. He ignored us. It was pretty rude. I understand that it's possible that it was an off day for the bartender, but this is literally the only time that I've been ignored at a bar when asking for water in my life. There is a better bar across the street called Fast Times. I'd suggest going a couple blocks down Morena Blvd. to Sidecar. It's a much better bar with a very pleasant staff.

If I could give them ZERO stars I would. This place hasn't changed in the 10+ years it's been around. I haven't been to this bar in a while because the owner and bartenders lack courtesy and respect. As a woman I would NEVER recommend another woman to go in here by herself. I can't even begin to describe just how much this owner sucks. Go to the new bar across the street. It's called Fast Times. It's a new establishment in the Clairemont community, staff are extremely friendly, and the owner actually cares about his customers! I'm a San Diego native and a Clairemont native to be exact, and I would NEVER choose going to Champs over Fast Times. I would avoid this place. You won't be missing out on anything.
