My first trip to Chicago Fabric was a success! I've been scoping out fabric stores with the recent closing of a national fabric chain store. I was overwhelmed when I walked in. There are bolts of fabric in every nook and cranny. It's a little challenging to walk through the aisles and see everything, but the owner knows the store like the back of his hand. The store had a fabulous selection of notions, both new and vintage. I thought the prices were very fair. I would need to spend several hours to see everything and find all the buried treasures. Chicago Fabric is in a prime location and definitely worth the stop. P.S. the owner is a hoot and loves to chat. He has lots of character and humor. Props to Buddie for working alone in a store with so much inventory. He even tabulates the bill on paper using arithmetic. BLESS HIM.

This place is packed to the brim. I was able to find the perfect fabric for my next project after some digging. They both unfortunately had some staining, so the owner offered me a discount. The stains came out when I washed the fabric, so I'm pretty pleased.

Happened by this place, I love treasure hunts and curiosities so I was instantly drawn in!! The amount and variety of fabrics/ribbons etc. gave me sooo many ideas. After reading some of these reviews, I have to say that for me the floor-to-ceiling stock is appealing and not a drawback at all! I guess it might not be for the faint of heart, but in my opinion it’s glorious :) Price was good as well.

Disclaimer: It is very tight in there and walking can be tricky but he has LOTS of fabrics!!!! I recommend this shop its been in business over 95yrs!!! Support Local Small Businesses!!!!
