Love this gem. Kids 15 and under can fish free! One pole limit and other guidelines, but sweet. Bluegill, carpet, catfish and more. Not for serious fishing, but fun for kids to learn on smaller fish on a quiet little lake. Small lake with a walking path around it. Ducks, geese and squirrels. Nice shady spots. Picnic tables and a porta potty here and there. No vendors. Bring your own food, drinks, and make sure you clean up after yourself. This place stays pretty clean! Love it.

Very pleasant park for an afternoon walk or picnic. The area is well maintained and there are many things to stop and look at. We found some tree stumps that had been carved into faces which was really cool. There’s a small playground, a basketball court, and many picnic tables all around the lake. At the time we visited, there were signs posted saying no swimming or wading allowed in the lake. The parking lot was semi-full on a Saturday afternoon, but we were able to find a spot easily. Good place to bring family or friends on a nice sunny day.

Don't bother coming here if you're in a wheelchair, use a walker, or are unsteady on uneven ground. They have "disabled parking" with a curb cut out to nowhere. 4 inch drop of the curb cut off onto dirt and loose gravel. The other entry point was near the bathrooms at the driveway, but after the short driveway it becomes loose gravel on a path too steep to go straight down. Seemed nice from the parking lot. Close and yet so Far away! Somehow this missed San Diego's promise to make recreational areas accessible for all.

Chollas Lake a nature relaxed hidden within the city off the 94 freeway. There are different playgrounds on the east side of the lake, picnic tables, small bbq picnic grills, ground exercise machines on the east side of the path. There are ducks and geese. Children are able to fish. It is a good place to come and take a walk, jog, run and even just to clear your mind, reset from the city.

I love this place! Great to walk around in the afternoon, not too busy, but busy enough that you aren’t fully alone. Lots of cute spots around the lake to sit by. Bathrooms available, lots of picnic benches, and designated areas for large groups with decent views. Seems like a nice place for families, there are some bbqs available, playgrounds, and cool plants to look at! Dog friendly, and besides the walk down to the lake, relatively flat trail around.
