Clay CA is one of the most inspiring pottery studios in Los Angeles—and also serves as a true third space. I’ve taken classes here, and the environment consistently fosters creativity and personal growth. Since becoming a member, I’ve met people from all walks of life, and the space has been a constant source of connection and inspiration. I’ve visited many other studios in the city, but none have matched the warmth and welcoming energy of Clay CA. The staff is incredibly kind, and Gabriela, the business owner, is deeply passionate about the craft; her deep love and respect for the craft radiate throughout the studio and its community. From the wide range of glaze options to the wide variety of clay types, Clay CA is perfect for both beginners and experienced ceramicists looking to hone their skills and build community. Parking is easy with options like street parking, a downstairs lot, or free parking nearby on Spring Street. Located in the heart of Chinatown, the studio is surrounded by great food and lively nightlife. I’ve often found myself heading out for a glass of wine or a delicious meal with fellow members after a session. I highly recommend you check it out!

I have been a member of Clay CA since it opened 6 years ago. The owner, instructors and other ceramic artists members have always welcomed me with open arms and has a very special community 💞. Prices of classes and memberships are very reasonable and they do a great job at firing all of my stuff in a timely manner. I am so grateful to have called this place my studio and sad that I am moving away from Chinatown. If you are on the fence about trying out ceramics, look no further! Every instructor that Clay CA has had is very knowledgeable and passionate about pottery and most importantly teaching. They are conveniently located next title he Gold Line and LA Historic Park. One of the best perks is that members get 24/7 access to the studio. They have a range of glazes they offer but you can also bring your own if you wish.

We attended our first pottery class here, and the class itself was fine. But afterward, something very disappointing happened. I noticed a female staff member working on an artwork that looked like a centipede. Out of curiosity, I quietly observed and took a quick photo on my phone without disturbing her at all. Suddenly, she took off her headphones and harshly scolded me, saying photos were not allowed and told me to leave. Even the instructor said I wasn’t bothering her, so I really don’t understand why her attitude was so unreasonably rude. Maybe she was having personal issues, but the way she treated a customer was completely unprofessional. Sadly, this experience left such a bad impression that I won’t be returning.

I’ve been a member at Clay CA for a few yrs now. These are a few pieces I’ve made at the studio. I’ve taken some private classes and one off classes here. The instructors are super knowledgeable. I LOVE this studio. Clay CA is big on community and I’ve met some of my closest friends here. I’ll be signing up for more classes soon 😄

If you've been wanting to take a class on working with clay, this is the studio! We had Michael who was excellent, super knowledgeable, a pro, and just made the environment fun. Even when things don't go well (cause spinning clay is much harder than it looks) he makes light of the mistakes. I'm really glad I decided to come to this studio for my class and get Michael.
