Why Coco's Variety Bike and Prop is a fun option when searching for things to do near me with friends and family

Coco's Variety Bike and Prop, located in Los Angeles' Silver Lake neighborhood, is much more than a typical bike shop. It began over a decade ago as an eclectic emporium but quickly evolved around a passion for bicycles, blossoming into a full-service destination for bike enthusiasts and the local community. The shop offers a rich variety of services including new bike sales, repairs, and rentals. Notably, Coco’s Variety is known for its unique blend of refurbished vintage bicycles, affectionately dubbed "faded champions reborn," alongside new models from reputable brands such as Bianchi, Fairdale, Linus, and Surly. The owner, Peter Vermeren, has a deep commitment to sourcing used bikes, having purchased over 6,000 in the last ten years, often finding them at yard sales. Beyond servicing cyclists, the shop supports creative industries by renting bikes and gear as props to production studios for photo shoots and commercials in a wide range of colors and styles, meeting precise demands such as exact color matching. Coco’s also embraces community spirit by encouraging DIY culture, loaning tools, and offering an informal gathering place that caters to diverse interests—from vintage collectibles to practical bike maintenance. This vibrant mix makes Coco’s Variety an excellent spot to meet friends, discover unique bikes, engage with the local cycling community, or even catch a glimpse of the creative arts scene in Los Angeles.

Absolutely wonderful people to deal with. Friendly, easy going and trustworthy. I purchased an item from out of state and not only did they ship it perfectly, but it arrived a day early too, exactly as described. Peter and Angel are top notch 👍🏼

Not a good selection. I told him I wanted a hybrid bike. He showed me two bikes, had some scuffs, but didn't tell me they were used until I asked. Then he said from the 80's and 90's. The prices he asked, about $450 base price, were higher than the very nice new bike I bought at another store. In fairness Angel was a nice person and took some time to explain a couple bicycle concepts.

The nicest people. They take care of you. I bought a really nice bike for my son there and they fixed the brakes after the warranty period for no charge. Bought a USB light and they exchanged it after 3 months when the button didn’t work. No receipt needed and questions asked. Most places would tell you to go through the manufacturer. They also repaired my old mountain bike for super reasonable prices. They’re super professional.

Just had a wonderful experience here. Took my old bike in thinking I’d give it one more go for some fixing but ended up looking around. They have a great, but not overwhelming, selection of affordable new and well done refurbished bikes. The guy who helped me was extremely kind and patient and knowledgeable. Not at all a pushy place, just chill people in the neighborhood. Please support.l this store.

One of the best bike shops I have been to, and I've been to many. The staff is very helpful and all of them are very knowledgeable in vintage bikes, which I really appreciate. Prices are fair, and all the work they do is exceptional. Give them a try if you're not satisfied with your local bike shop.
