This place has gone so downhill in so many aspects. I was a member for over 20 years and been going to this location since it opened. A year ago I stopped going because of the hours and traffic. I went today because I needed a steam room due to complete voice loss. Whatever good staff they had was either not there or doesn't work there anymore. I let the front desk know I couldn't not speak and they made no effort to proved an accommodation, not did he inform me that the steam room closed in 15 minutes so I worked out a little bit only to find out that when I tried to go in the steam it was closed. The two females were incredibly rude and disrespectful. Of course I understand they have a job but there is never an excuse to speak to someone that way especially since I could not speak back. They got more rude by the second and they knew I could not speak. I was hoping they would at least try to let me communicate but since I cannot talk they felt no need to try to understand me...they took advantage of the fact I could not speak. The gym would still be open 25 minutes but they would not allow me to turn back on the steam function for 2 minutes but the lesser rude one allowed me to at least go instead but she yelled that I could not touch the dial to turn it back on. There were stands of hair everywhere in there and it smelled like urine. It is about $100 a person, they close at 3pm on Sundays and every machine was full!!! And the staff is unbelievably rude, inconsiderate and unprofessional. This place is not worth $10 a month, go elsewhere!

Great place, at the right time! Been a member 11years and have noticed a pattern emerge. An increase in cell phone use at several locations, without headphones, conversations , music, TV, etc. Zero enforcement of policy. Why do I have to listen to someone's music, plans, or drama in the one place I can go to get away from that. Some people prefer to focus and it's extremely distracting. Anyway, sign of the times I guess. Also, all the money invested and no water bottle fountains. Great steam room though after your workout.

This YMCA looks like a high-end gym. I would compare it to Equinox. It's the cleanest and best Y I've been to in Los Angeles.

I am a regular at this gym, but they need to start implementing stricter policies for the kids / children that use the free weights room. A lot of the attendants around 3-5PM clearly do not meet the minimum age requirement (16) and tend to congregate in droves of 3-5 per group; they are constantly blocking aisles or access to equipment with large groups occupying entire workout areas or stations. In one particular station, I waited ~30 minutes for about 3-5 people to get off equipment only for them to tag-team their friends in. Another big safety issue is that a lot of times they are messing around or using weights without any supervision; if that is not the case, they are often times just occupying stations to simply chat. Please either implement stricter policies for large groups or do something to help improve gym etiquette for the younger audience. Outside of this common occurrence, the gym is quite well managed and maintained.
