Comet Tavern is a quintessential Seattle establishment located in the vibrant Capitol Hill neighborhood. Renowned as a "grunge institution" and a smoky dive bar, it serves as a beloved hangout spot for locals and visitors alike who enjoy its authentic, unpretentious atmosphere. This restaurant and bar embody the spirit of the neighborhood’s music and counterculture history, often described as a rocker's haven with a casual vibe. With a richly storied past, including co-ownership by David Meinert, Comet Tavern retains its dive bar character while adapting tastes and experiences for contemporary patrons. The tavern has a somewhat dilapidated exterior yet invites visitors with its unique blend of vintage charm and lively ambiance. A nice place for a pint and a shot on a Saturday around noon. The shots are generous and are reasonably priced. I have been going here for years when I’m in the area and haven’t been disappointed yet. If you’re looking for a dive bar vibe, the Comet has it. Parking can be tricky, but it’s available on the street all around the area.

The food was definitely the best part about this place. I tried the cheese curds and they were some of the best I've had. Unfortunately, I found the prices to be overboard. My one mixed drink was actually more than my food, which is crazy to me. The vibes were okay; I'd call it mellow. There's bar seating and plenty of table seating.

Was at a networking event and met a lot of new connections. The atmosphere is a little loud due to the building being older so if hearing is an issue you may have troubles. Super sweet staff too.

We went into this bar followed by three men (in a group of 4 women) that had already made unwanted advances towards us. We let the bouncer, Lucas, aware of the issue. He made it clear that he could not immediately kick out the men with no clear issue but he would look out for us if something were to happen. As the men approached our table of all women, Lucas immediately noticed and came over to our table to mediate. A few minutes prior he had came up to us, made us feel safe, and became friendly with us (in a respectful way) to set a boundary. He ended up making sure that the men left us alone and when they did not he ended up kicking them out and apologizing, while also making the bartender (Paul) aware of the issue. Lucas and Paul performed their duties to the greatest extent and made us feel safe in the Comet Tavern. If you have any concerns regarding issues with this or with people at comet please bring it up with the workers and they will do their absolute best to look out for you. I appreciate you Lucas!!!

Solid late-night pub—lively but not a nightmare. You could actually get a drink without battling a sea of flannel. My buddy made out with a stranger there, so I earned my Eagle Scout Wingman badge that night.
