Cooper Park, spanning 6.40 acres in Northern Brooklyn, offers a lively and welcoming environment perfect for meeting friends and enjoying outdoor activities. Nestled between the neighborhoods of Greenpoint, Williamsburg, and the Newtown Creek, this historic park was once the site of Peter Cooper's 19th-century glue factory. Today, it features a variety of recreational facilities including basketball and tennis courts, a dog run, and a well-maintained playground named Carnegie Playground, dedicated to Margaret Carnegie. The park’s basketball and tennis courts require permits, which helps maintain the quality and exclusivity of these amenities. The dog run is especially popular for year-round pet play, located in the southwest corner near Sharon Street and Morgan Avenue. Its playground is known for good upkeep and includes child-friendly features that attract families regularly. Managed by the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation, Cooper Park stands out not just for its diverse facilities but for its role as a warm, engaging social hub in the community, making it an excellent place to connect with friends and enjoy urban nature.

This is a nice, popular neighborhood park. It has a slightly smaller play structure but it still has nice slides, swings (two baby/toddler sized and two regular child sized), monkey bars, and climbing structure. Part of the playground is over sand and the other portion is rubber based. There is also a little play house and one rocking airplane. There are some picnic benches (some with shade structure above them) and lots of green space for kids to play and sidewalks for scootering or walking. There are baseball diamonds and tennis courts on site so the area can get busy if games are happening. There is no parking lot but street parking is available nearby. There is a public restroom as well. Overall a great place for kids and families to enjoy a nice time outside.

The play area for kids is nice. Not very big. There is a pond to visit across the parking lot and past the pond is Rapps Barren Settlement with four historic buildings. I love history so this was a pleasant surprise.
