June 2025 - Flowers are in bloom on the trail: White, Pink and Purple Foxglove, and red Herb Robert! Summer 2023 - I've used my mountain bike on this trail, and its a great shortcut to Westlake area! Spread the word to our fellow mountain bikers. Recommended skill level of Medium because you have to ride close to the railing. Also riding uphill is difficult because of the slope, and walking a bike uphill is difficult in places where the trail is narrow.

Seattle Parks Department refers to this trail as "Taylor Ave, N. trail", but most locals call it the Crockett-Dexter trail. Its one of three vital links for Queen Anne and Westlake pedestrians to safely cross Aurora99 (the others are Gayler street overpass to the south, and Raye St underpass to the north). Its a straight line graded dirt trail with no rocks or roots, on a moderately steep 17% incline (100 ft climb, 600 ft length). It has a few steps near the top, and a handrail for most of the trail, and is good for running, walking, or a very skilled bicycle rider. The top 20 yards is a great place to pick blackberries. Its a pleasant walk, but trail could be improved by widening, and repair of the handrail in a few places. UPDATE: As of May 2024 , trail has been cleared of trash and homeless debris by WeHeartSeattle.

It was a good trail. The scene was okay as we went in the winter. We saw some plants too not sure if they were for people or not. But if it's for the people who love plants and take it home then it was the best treat.

I met a local neighbor who was trimming back the brush, and he told me that the Parks Department has decided to no longer weed-eat the trail, so a local group of neighbors are doing the maintenance a couple of times per year.
