The Dallas DeGolyer Estate, nestled within the lush surroundings of the Dallas Arboretum, offers a majestic and historic setting that makes it an exceptional venue for meeting up with friends or hosting special events. Originally built in 1939 as a sprawling 44-acre Spanish Colonial Revival home known as Rancho Encinal, this estate was designed by renowned California architects Denman Scott and Burton Schutt. Its elegant 21,000-square-foot structure, featuring 13 rooms and seven baths, was thoughtfully laid out to embrace panoramic views of White Rock Lake, meadows, and the surrounding woodlands, reflecting a deep harmony with nature. Historically significant, it was the first air-conditioned home in Dallas and belonged to Everette DeGolyer, a pioneering petroleum geologist and philanthropist. Wow what a great way to spend the day. We had a layover at DFW and rented a car to go explore, we spent a few hours walking around. I suggest doing the little tram tour around the park. The cafe near the entrance had great sandwiches and also offered beer and wine. We visited the park in January and found ig beautiful. The staff are supper friendly and bathrooms are clean. Perfect for kids and adults alike.
