Here's what people think of Dim Sum Palace

As of recent, Dim Sum Palace holds a 4.5-star rating based on 688 reviews.

Reviews for Dim Sum Palace present a mixed but generally positive overall impression. Patrons often praise the authenticity and variety of the dim sum selections. Positive reviews highlight the excellent taste and freshness of dishes like steamed ravioli, dumplings, and various dim sum favorites, describing the food as flavorful and well-prepared. Many recommend the restaurant for both first-timers and dim sum experts, appreciating the good value and variety. Moreover, the elegant setting and multiple locations make it convenient and appealing for group meet-ups.

On the other hand, some reviews point to inconsistent service and occasional delays in food delivery as areas of concern. A few customers found the service disappointing, citing inattentive or brusque staff interactions, which impacted their dining experience negatively. There are also mentions of some dishes being bland or not meeting expectations, particularly specific items like eggplant with garlic sauce or spring rolls. Went to spend a few weeks of my summer in NYC, and I got an Airbnb next to Ktown. Even though I lived right next to a bunch of Korean BBQ places, I found myself coming here for almost 80% of my dinners. I got coerced by a friend to try the Michelin-rated Nan Xiang across the street, but my genuine advice is that it's WAAAY better here. Unlike Nan Xiang, there's no horrifying wait time (you get seated immediately), the portions are much more generous, and it's actually AUTHENTIC instead of pandering to tourists or anything. The food is fresh, every dish is on point and accurately prepared, and also a nice thing is that I like my food less greasy and on the lighter side, which they do indeed do here unlike a lot of other restaurants. Ooh, also, their spicy sauce is amazing! It's not generic sauce or anything, it's definitely house-made with a secret recipe that took eons to perfect or something. The owner is extremely enthusiastic and warm, water is refilled accordingly, and any requests you have will be attended to. Though, please note that the kitchen does close around 9:45pm, so although the sign says it's open until 10:30, plan your visit accordingly. I've both ordered take out and dined in, and the food quality for both options are equally phenomenal. I think one of the biggest things I missed when I left NYC was this place. After a long day of touring, I found myself not heading to the viral restaurant spots suggested online, but instead to this cozy place. It's really a hidden gem!

My party of six people came here to enjoy some dim sum, which was good. But ended up craving more of the Peking Duck, which was the star of the show. Service was excellent and the knife work on the duck was noticeable as it was cut to perfection. Other dishes of note are the Xiaolongbao and the Chicken feet. We will go back to get some more of that Peking duck before leaving NYC and perhaps try their other dim sum dishes! Highly recommended!

We loved this restaurant. A great place to go to enjoy Chinese food while you visit the empire state building. It opens till late night and probably one the best chinese food available in New York at an affordable Price. We ordered dumplings (delicious) and Chicken Friend rice to start with. They also have a wide variety of drinks in their Menu. Sam was serving the food and he was very courteous and filling our water glasses frequently and paying attention to our needs. Only street parking is available. Family/Children friendly. Being NY, it's not very spacious, but enough to have a good dinner/lunch.

Never heard of this place until I went with a group of colleagues, staff were super nice and patient with us. Very punctual and helpful, we had to mark what we wanted on the menu and everything was super good! Dimsum was very delicious, tried a taro bun which was good, dessert was super yummy too. Honestly it’s an experience you would want to try with friends or family. I highly recommend!

This style ensures food arrives hot and ready, allowing your group to savor every bite together without delays. For friends or family who love late-night outings, the Chinatown location stays open until 3 a.m., complete with a liquor license, so the meal can extend into cocktails and late-night conversations, creating a festive atmosphere. Dim Sum Palace’s spatial layout and warm ambiance are conducive to groups, with tables large enough to accommodate gatherings without crowding. The restaurant’s lively vibe encourages interaction and engagement, essential for hosting successful meetups. Dim sum’s inherently sharable nature, where dishes are ordered in rounds and passed around, works exceptionally well for groups, making the dining experience dynamic rather than passive. The wide variety on the menu means everyone in your party—even those with picky tastes—can find something delightful, whether it’s a vegetarian option or a savory meat dish. The staff is used to handling sizable parties, ensuring that service can meet group needs, though some reviews mention occasional ups and downs in service speed or attentiveness. Why do people recommend Dim Sum Palace despite occasional mixed reviews?

While most reviews celebrate Dim Sum Palace for its authentic dim sum offerings and vibrant atmosphere, there are occasional mentions of inconsistent service. Some diners have experienced slow food delivery or brusque staff behavior, particularly when unfamiliar with dim sum ordering customs. However, the majority praise the quality and variety of the fare, emphasizing how the excellent har gow and other dishes make visits worthwhile. The restaurant’s charm is heightened by the fact that it is more about the experience—ordering many small plates, sharing, talking, and enjoying each other’s company—than just about eating. This focus on togetherness often outweighs service missteps for many guests who come primarily for the food and convivial environment. Furthermore, the convenient location and late hours at the Chinatown site add to its appeal as a dependable spot for spontaneous group gatherings or celebratory dinners.

What other reasons make Dim Sum Palace a compelling place for a meetup?

The restaurant's ambiance frequently buzzes with chatter, laughter, and the clinking of tea cups, evoking a festive and welcoming vibe. This allows your group to feel like part of a larger community, making even first-time visitors feel at home. The pricing is generally reasonable given the quality and quantity of food served, ensuring that everyone can enjoy a fulfilling meal without budget concerns. By choosing Dim Sum Palace as a rallying point, you’re opting for more than just dinner—you’re choosing an experience that knits relationships through shared culinary adventure and an engaging social environment, creating memories that last beyond the meal.
