I have trained under multiple dive instructors throughout the world. I'm a master diver and a technical diver myself, with over 1000 logged (mostly technical) dives. In my opinion Bert is as good as it gets for foundational training. I have sent all my children and referred many friends to Bert over the years. He is patient, he is thorough, he is safe! The reason I'm writing this review now is because of a negative review someone posted about the shop making them purchase equipment: purchasing basic equipment is important for a new diver. Purchasing that equipment from the dive shop one trains at is usually how it's done - especially for new divers who have no experience and no real reference point to decide what they need. Frankly I'm amazed any of the local dive shops remain open when they are competing with online outlets. Save a few bucks and drive the local support for excellent dive instruction out of business. Not smart. Bert I'm sending you couple youngins' in the next couple weeks. Keep up the excellent work you do.
