Why Dolce Neve Gelato is a fun option when searching for things to do near me with friends and family

Dolce Neve Gelato, nestled in downtown Austin on South First Street, is a premier destination for those seeking authentic Italian gelato. Founded in 2014 by a trio of native Italians—Leo Ferrarese, Francesca Silvestrini, and her brother Marco Silvestrini—the shop reflects their passion for traditional gelato craftsmanship rooted in their Italian heritage. Francesca's formal culinary training in Italy ensures the gelato is made with the highest level of artisanal expertise. This cozy gelato cafe is a perfect spot to meet friends and indulge in a wide range of exquisite flavors crafted from organic, locally sourced ingredients supplied by Austin businesses like G&S Groves and Cowgirl Creamery. Offering between 12 and 18 gelato and sorbet flavors at a time, Dolce Neve categorizes them into staple and rotating options, inspiring constant discovery for returning visitors. Beyond traditional gelato, the shop serves an assortment of frozen desserts such as gelato bars, sandwiches, granita, and affogatos—where their intensely flavorful espresso complements the sweetness of gelato perfectly. With reasonable prices allowing up to two generous scoops in a small cup, Dolce Neve provides a delightful social experience ideal for pleasant afternoons or relaxed evenings, especially since it remains open late during the week. The welcoming ambiance and commitment to authentic quality make it a standout gathering place to share Italian-inspired treats with friends.

The ice cream was not bad. It cost me $7 for a small cup. The environment is enjoyable, it feels like visiting a small elegant European shop. It was quite enjoyable eating the ice cream, enjoying the environment and looking outside the window in the shop. I think it is a great dating place for having a small snack.

Mea culpa! I should have reviewed this charming Italian gelato store called Dolce Neve (sweet ice) a long time ago. I haven't been to this family-owned business for a few years and always appreciated their frozen concoctions. I went back today with a good friend of mine after cinema and was delighted to taste their sweet creations. You should know that all their gelato flavors are made in-house, literally in front of you. I had their dark chocolate with candied orange chunks and creamy macha tea flavor gelato. My friend had the roasted hazelnut and coffee gelato. Both hers and mine were just sweet enough but not too sweet, good strong flavors but not overwhelming, and especially a luscious creamy texture, not the fluffy stuff you may get at other commercial places. Two smiling young ladies were happy to help us. By the way, they also serve real Espresso coffee and other drinks (hot and cold). You are literally sitting in the extension of their kitchen at small, charming wooden tables (there is also some seating outside). As you can see in one of my pictures, that big machine you there is a real Italian ice cream churning machine, the kind you can only find in Italy these days. I know, I used to own one when I owned my own French Cafe in Austin a few years ago. I can't recommend this place enough if you want to treat your children, your sweetheart and yourselves (of course) to a short and sweet escape to real Italian delights. Buon appetito! Let me put you on this amazing ice-cream shop. First off, Alex was wonderful, kind, helpful, and patient. He answered all our questions with grace. The flavors are unique and always rotating. The shop has a cute aesthetic with real succulents throughout. Give this hidden jem a try!

This place came highly recommended and didn't disappoint. I loved having multiple non-cow dairy options, particularly ones that weren't just sorbets. There were two goat milk options and both were fabulous. The inside is rather small, but empty on a weekday late afternoon.

THIS PLACE IS GOOD BUT…every time i order a quart, which is almost $30, they leave pockets of empty space while filling the quart and do not fill it all the way. the flavors are great but please correct this, happened so many times and i dont want to come off as rude or calling staff out for not filling it on the spot. its upsetting when we way that much for the quart to have empty pockets. like there is a cave of empty space under all this. please just give me what i pay for. ive been supporting this business for a long time and i dont want to stop but this is getting annoying.
