Why Doppio Zero Mountain View is a fun option when searching for things to do near me with friends and family
Doppio Zero Mountain View stands out as a beloved Italian restaurant where guests can expect more than just a meal—they’ll experience a warm, lively environment perfect for meeting friends or enjoying a romantic evening. Anchored by a traditional wood-fired oven that imparts a crackling ambiance and the irresistible aroma of freshly baked pizza, the restaurant creates a cozy yet energetic atmosphere, with a warmly lit dining room that encourages conversation and relaxation[3]. The open kitchen allows diners to watch as their pizzas are crafted by hand, while the option to sit outside on sunny days invites a touch of al fresco Italian charm[3].
At the heart of the menu are certified Neapolitan pizzas, characterized by their beautifully blistered crusts, zesty tomato sauce, and premium toppings—each pie paying homage to Italian authenticity and flavor[2]. But Doppio Zero is more than pizza: housemade pastas, such as tender gnocchi in eggplant sauce and wild boar fettuccine, showcase the kitchen’s dedication to homemade, creative dishes[3][4]. Crispy fried artichokes and dishes like smoky octopus salad further highlight the diverse, ingredient-focused menu[2][3]. The attentive staff and consistent quality make it a prime destination for those seeking a convivial, memorable dining experience in Mountain View.

Doppio Zero Mountain View enjoys a strong reputation with an overall rating of 4.3 out of 5 from thousands of reviews, reflecting a mostly positive consensus among diners[5]. Many reviewers praise the restaurant for its authentic Neapolitan pizzas, noting the perfect balance of chewy, well-charred crust and vibrant, bold flavors, with some highlighting the joy of watching their pizza be crafted in the open kitchen’s wood-fired oven[1][2]. The cozy, intimate atmosphere—accentuated by warm lighting and a bustling yet comfortable dining room—is frequently mentioned as a highlight, making it a favored spot for dates, family gatherings, and catching up with friends[3]. The quality of ingredients and the breadth of the menu, including standout pasta dishes and unique antipasti, also receive consistent acclaim[2][3].
On the flip side, some negative reviews point to occasional inconsistencies in pizza quality, such as undercooked dough or lackluster toppings, which have left a few long-time fans disappointed[1]. While there are occasional misses, the positive feedback far outweighs the negatives, solidifying its place as a top choice for Italian dining in Mountain View[1][2][5].

Doppio Zero has a nice ambiance with warm lighting and stylish decor. Service was attentive as they checked in often and kept our waters filled, which was appreciated. We ordered the Fungo and Bufalina pizzas. The mushrooms on the Fungo were generous, but overall the pizzas were underwhelming since there was too much crust and not enough sauce, so it often felt like eating plain bread. For the price, the portions didn't feel worth it. Outdoor seating is very limited, and the wait was long on a Sunday. I wouldn't go back since there are better pizza spots nearby.

An Italian restaurant serving pizza and other Italian dishes in a lively ambience in Castro Street Mountain View. We had lasagna, two different types of pizzas, pasta and Aperol as a beverage. The items were all well made and the service efficient. One thing about the pizzas though, the pizza base is very thick around the edges, somewhat chewy and burnt. Possibly, it could be made better to avoid wastage of food. Toilets are convenient and one has to find parking in one of the parking lots in adjacent streets. The entire street has a wide collection of restaurants catering to different cuisines and on the weekend it becomes a very lively place with impromptu song and dance events taking place

Our favorite Italian restaurant in the Bay area. Neapolitan styled wood fired Pizzas are so thin and crispy. Mushroom Ravioli is super delicious. Tiramisu is amazing, so creamy and soft. I strongly recommend to check out this place. It’s advised to make reservations as this place is always busy.

5/26/25 Doppio Zero 160 Castro St Mountain View, CA 94041 We went for lunch on Memorial Day, popular place, the large bar and table dining area was about ¾ full. There was lots of parking in the city free parking structure behind the restaurant. We were seated promptly and service was attentive and good throughout our lunch. We ordered the Fried Calamari and Shrimp, Fregola Del Pescatore and Ravioli. The Shrimp and Calamari was a nice combination and fried with a light breading to perfection. The Calamari was very tender. It was accompanied with a bland Marinara sauce and they didn't have Tabasco sauce to kick it up and make it more like a cocktail sauce. The seafood pasta lacked flavor and the couscous like Fregola got stuck in the clam shells so a fettuccine or linguine would probably be better for this dish. The spinach ravioli had a nice rich cheese taste. This is mostly a pizza and appetizer place with limited pasta and entree menu selections compared with other Italian venues. The food needs more flavor and no cocktail or Tabasco sauce so no repeat.
