This is a nice hike for any level, only 30 minutes away from Aurora/Denver. Such a beautiful view of the mountains and trees. There are a few different trails you can go on. We stuck to the Doudy trail up the mountain, not sure if there was another trail that loops around, but came out towards the highway which is on the other side of where we parked. There are many mountain bikers so please be aware, every one on the trail was nice and courteous. Recommend this for a short to half day hike. Will likely come again and explore the other trails.

I was a little worried about trail conditions when I showed up, with all the rain recently, but the trail was pleasantly dry. I'm not a very good mountain biker, I just started this year, and I thoroughly enjoyed this trail system. I followed the doudy draw trail until I reached the first fork, and headed over to springbrook. I rode up the north side, which is the more steady climb of the 2. My bike is a single speed so it was definitely a workout, but I made it up the mountain with no issues. Riding down the south side was very fun, fairly steep with a ton of rock gardens. It was a pretty techy trail but it went by very fast, and very fun. I then took a right when exiting the springbrook loop to continue on the doudy draw trail. I climbed up to the cattle gate, having to get off and walk a few steep sections due to the single speed. It was full of good features and rode really well. I definitely plan on coming back next time I'm in the Boulder area, and I definitely recommend it if you are looking for some more moderate trail riding, with features that are fun and challenging but not in an intimidating way.

This and the Mesa Trailhead on the other side of the road have been my go to for the past few years. The parking is $5 and there are a decent number of spots. That being said, this side does allow bikes, but during my last hike, they are respectful to hikers and it works out. The whole area is gorgeous! Any time is year. With the flatiron as a back drop, what could be wrong here? Like many front range hikes, exposure to the sun is 100% for the first mile and a half. Once you get in the tree line, though, it's shaded. The main trail leads to several others. With the intent of getting to fowler trail, they are well marked. Enjoy your time here!

Such a pretty trail. So many wildflowers to see in June like the Mariposa lily, blanketflowers, sulfur cinquefoils. So quiet, not crowded and so many different sceneries at every turn, totally loved it. There are bikes in the trail if you are hiking so that wasn’t great. Also, the trail has only paid parking for the trail which I wasn’t too happy about.
