Why Dough Joy is a fun option when searching for things to do near me with friends and family

Dough Joy offers a vibrant and welcoming spot in Seattle to gather with friends over delicious, handmade vegan doughnuts. Founded in 2021 by Christopher Ballard and Sean Willis, this queer-owned business began as a food truck in the Ballard neighborhood and has since grown into three permanent locations including shops in Capitol Hill, West Seattle, and Ballard, plus a fun Doughmobile food trailer for events. The atmosphere promotes inclusivity and creativity, making it a great place to relax and socialize while enjoying treats entirely free of eggs, dairy, and nuts. Their doughnuts stand out not only for being plant-based but also for their inventive flavors such as The Basic B (classic glazed), The Faconator (maple frosting with coconut bacon), PB & HEYYY (peanut butter icing with strawberry jelly), and Petal to the Metal (rose-flavored with pink marble icing). Seasonal and special editions like the cereal-inspired Cereal Killer and Pride-themed doughnuts with rainbow sprinkles add to the excitement. Complemented by a full coffee bar and gluten-free options, Dough Joy presents an exceptional combination of taste, community spirit, and culinary artistry perfect for sharing memorable moments with friends.

Gluten-free vegan donut options that are actually amazing - heck yes! It’s so hard to find allergy-friendly treats that actually taste good, and I was so so happy when I tried these donuts. There was no wait when we got it, and got lucky with street parking so it was a fast trip. The gluten-free donuts do have a slightly sweet-corn taste, which was unexpected but actually really worked. I tried the strawberry, chocolate, and cherry option, and the strawberry was by far my favorite but they were all really good. They have seating so you could likely work from the donut shop. They also have coffee and tea, but heads up - the matcha isn’t ceremonial grade so I decided to skip it. I would absolutely go back again.

Just came to this shop because I’m gluten free and they were closed, but they saw us walk up to the door and just opened it and handed us a DOZEN free doughnuts! So rare in these capitalist times to find such sweet folks, and they even gave me a bag of gluten free doughnuts also!!?? So so kind and the doughnuts were delish. Can’t wait to come back here and get a matcha to sip with my GF maple doughnut 🥹
