Why Doughnut Plant is a fun option when searching for things to do near me with friends and family

Doughnut Plant is a renowned artisanal doughnut company founded in 1994 by Mark Isreal in New York City. What makes Doughnut Plant an exceptional destination to meet friends is its unique dedication to crafting gourmet doughnuts using all-natural, high-quality ingredients without any artificial preservatives, flavors, or colors. The flagship location is situated in the historic Lower East Side and serves as both a retail bakery and the creative heart of the brand where many original recipes were developed. Visitors get to enjoy a welcoming atmosphere and often a glimpse into the doughnut-making process, which adds to the artisanal experience. Doughnut Plant offers an inventive menu that includes the world’s first filled square doughnut — the Jelly-Filled Square™ — as well as signature flavors like Crème Brûlée, Tres Leches, Peanut Butter & Blackberry Jam, and a variety of seasonal specialties. They craft their doughnuts with care, using sourdough starters and house-made glazes, fillings, jams, and toppings, all prepared daily from scratch. Beyond doughnuts, they offer a selection of vegan and gluten-free options, and their small-batch roasted coffee pairs perfectly with their treats. The combination of innovative products, high-quality ingredients, and a vibrant, intimate setting creates a great spot for friends to gather, indulge, and enjoy a uniquely elevated doughnut experience in New York City.

Best Gluten Free donuts. Haven’t had a good donut in 30 years and these were great. Even good 2 days after I bought them. They were the size of a normal donut.

Delicious donuts at the Grand Central Station, a bit pricey but very good choice and quality. The coconut cream donut in particular is scrumptious. One of the employees was a bit rude, but the one who served us was nice. Coffee was ok, a good breakfast overall.

BEST Donut Shop in NYC! I visited this spot on 05/03/2025 after being let down by that overhyped viral donut place called “I’m Donut” (1 hour wait for favor less overpriced donuts. don’t even get me started major disappointment). Thankfully, this gem completely turned my night around. No crazy lines, super friendly staff, and actual delicious donuts that don’t cost a fortune—yes, even on a Saturday night! I got 5 donuts and a drink without breaking the bank. Elijah, in particular, was an absolute star and so kind. I told him how disappointed I was with the other place, and he went above and beyond to make sure I left happy. You can really tell he cares about the customers and values loyalty. So glad I stopped by! Please support this place. Their donuts are the real deal—soft, flavorful, and just perfect. Eat now, count calories tomorrow! Xo, A New Yorker
