This group is on my top 5 in the ganze ganze world. Jeff holds this in a stunning NY artists club. The lighting the models are top rate. You’re in great company with friendly artists who share their tips. Just walking into the building will inspire you as you see the history of NY artist patron portraits in the stairs. When I visit NYC this is the first place I want to DRAW!

I've always wanted to try joining a figure drawing session, and I'm so glad my first experiences were with Drawing New York. The atmosphere at these sessions is so comfortable, friendly and welcoming, I felt right at home from the start. Even as a shy introvert, I've never felt out of place - both Simon and Jeff truly understand the art of creating a space that is neither excluding nor pressuring, but just the right amount of calm yet open and joking, and it was easy to come out of my shell. During my short four weeks in NYC, I couldn't help but join 5 sessions, and they are some of my fondest memories. Every session had its own unique model, and I feel like I learned so much simply by participating and challenging myself - it was just the right space for it. Before my first session I was worried what and who to expect, but I felt right at home and I truly believe what their website says: "All levels are welcome"! And it surely helps that the sessions are located at one of the most gorgeous and most inspiring buildings I've visited in the entire city - a nice bonus for sure! I'd give a hundred stars if I could. I hope I can come back and join again one day :)

I attended the instructed drawing course on Thursday night with Simon. This was possibly the best way to spend a Thursday night. The class ranged from a complete beginner to some who have drawn off and on for years. Simon has the perfect demeanor for teaching art—he’s encouraging but straight forward. I learned a lot about drawing in the two hours I spent there, and I enjoyed myself for every minute of it. It’s a beautiful setting and a light and meditative class. I can’t wait to go back.

The live figure drawing art class at Drawing New York was a captivating experience that seamlessly integrated the fundamentals of anatomy, proportion, and movement. The model's poses were dynamic and challenging, offering a wide range of opportunities for sketching and studying the human form. The instructor provided insightful guidance on techniques such as gesture drawing, shading, and capturing the essence of the pose in a limited timeframe. The atmosphere was conducive to creativity, with fellow artists engaged in their work and sharing their perspectives during breaks. Overall, the class was not only educational but also inspiring, pushing participants to hone their observational skills and artistic expression through direct interaction with a live model.
