Best karaoke in Austin. 7 nights a week! Whether you're a singer or just in the mood to listen and do some people watching Ego's is THE place. The bartenders are some of the friendliest I've ever encountered and are top notch folks. A dive bar in the best possible sense: inexpensive drinks, local flair, storied history and nary a pretentious d-bag to be found!

I've been going to this bar since before I was old enough to drink and am now 44 years old...so I have definitely witnessed this bar at its best and worst. I'd say the bar staff they currently have is the most professional but still hip, convivial and fun, that I've ever seen. There used to be a faction of older and hard core bossy rude sorts of people that made going there not unlike ordering soup from the soup Nazi. From what I gather, they exclusively do karaoke now which didn't used to be the case. It has always been the most fun and coolest place to do it except when Club DeVille made it the fab thing on Tuesdays back in the late nineties/early auts. I must say though....the last time I went was pretty lame. While the bar staff was great, the guy running karaoke was clearly running it in a nepotistic way. It was hours before close and there were not that many people there but everyone who sang appeared to be surprised by being called up to sing...as though they hadn't even signed up. I even offered the DJ money to let my brother and I sing but was rebuffed and told it was "too late and wouldn't matter anyway", whatever that means. It was a sausage fest of an obviously well established and integrated clique. It felt like we were intruding on a teen aged girls birthday party but with maturely aged grown men in birthday tiaras instead. Definitely not how to make money above whatever status quo that group of regulars provides...although, on second thought--they were seriously putting the double cocktails down hard core so maybe they have come by their locale dominance honestly. Who knows? While I like and have liked this place a lot over my 27 years of going....I don't have the time machine to visit when it was fun. Maybe it was an off night?🤷🏻💁🏻🙋🏻💇🏻🤨

This is the best karaoke bar in Austin, and the best one I've ever been to in any city. It's busy on the weekends, but on my most recent visit (my first in a while) the service was still attentive and great. I hope this place never closes. Long live Ego's

This bar would be fun, I loved everything about it, but there’s a bartender with pink hair who is extremely rude and sassy and refused us drinks because she was calling me weird. Then when I tried to talk to a manager I found out it was her, so that was super unfortunate; half of our friend group went home early because she was so rude and sassy to everyone who approached her. Even when my friend and I kept ordering just water, like she forced us to do, she was still rude and it made us really dislike this bar. If you go you will have so much fun because the crowd is super nice but she is super rude. I wish had got her name but I didn’t so just be careful, but she has neon pink hair and I’ve never had a bartender be so rude to me she acted I have problems. And I didn’t even get to sing.
