I’ve been here 3 times. The first time we went was when they first opened; we read that it was a quiet listening room so everyone was mostly talking in low voices. Music was reasonable level. The 2nd time I went, it was still similar atmosphere except the music was a tad louder. This past time, the music was very loud where I was raising my voice to talk to my partner. He even said the same; it was hard to have an ongoing conversation. I hated that it was turning slightly mainstream with the noise volume. One thing that didn’t change: the delicious food and drinks. I always come hungry because I know their Japanese inspired bites are so good. My favorites last night were the crab tostadas, fried wontons, and matcha churros. And their drinks are definitely different but really fun to try. The Casio had makrut and fish sauce in it but wow, it was very balanced and amazing. The rum old fashioned was good but I wish I could’ve done something with the burning lime - I hated to waste it! And the Insane in the brain was fun to drink but lightly too sweet for me. I love the ube flavor though. Definitely coming back soon again on an empty stomach!

UPDATE: My wife and I hit Equipment Room again last night. This time to track Fleetwood Mac Rumors. Not only did the timing of the check drop change to after the album's completion, Eric de Valpine, one of the guys behind the business, stopped by and visited about the change and his strong desire to limit interruption. Very thoughtful approach and great customer service. I will indeed keep coming back for stellar music, food, and drink experiences. Thank you, Eric! P.S. "The Chain" cocktail was a fantastic pairing with the album. ORIGINAL POST: I’ve come to the Equipment Room multiple times. Bob Marley, Tyler the Creator, Jeff Buckley, and more. All beautiful albums that deserve to be heard in full, uninterrupted. The audio quality is exceptional, and it’s the reason I keep returning. But hello, management: every time, the experience is cut short by the check arriving before the album ends, with a request for payment, and the closing of a check. Mood blown. When the whole point is to sink into a full-album listening session, that interruption completely breaks the spell. There’s plenty of time to settle the check after the album ends — during the post-listening chat, the transition between sessions, or before closing. The food and drinks are fine, but that’s not why I come. I come for the music. The listening. The sound space you've created. The absolute intentionality. And that part is beautiful.
