The polish sausage was absolutely delicious! So were the fries! The sausage was very flavorful and warm and I would definitely recommend getting the grilled onions and mustard with it. Beware the hot peppers because they are quite hot. The sausages also came with fries already which was great since they are crispy on the outside, warm, and not dry. The guy was very nice and made sure to confirm which toppings we wanted and that we got the orders that we each wanted. Our orders came out very quick too! It was unfortunate that so many people were lined up at the other stand when there was no line at this one and the food is so good! The guys in the kitchen were just waiting for people to come by and instantly went to work once we ordered! Overall great experience!

I had an extremely disappointing experience at Express Grill (1260 S Union). The place is filthy, and the employees show no regard for cleanliness there’s no use of gloves or proper food handling. The fries are bland, under-seasoned, and often cold. The pork chops are consistently undercooked, which is not only unappetizing but also unsafe. What makes it worse is the unfriendly staff and their outright disregard and disrespect toward the Black community. The atmosphere is unwelcoming and feels careless. I will never return, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone who values good food, cleanliness, or respect. I’ll pass especially seeing the order taker handle money then make a polish.

Hit up Express Grill on Union Ave around midnight—always a solid 24/7 go-to. I grabbed the classic Maxwell Street Polish with grilled onions & mustard plus a pork chop sandwich, and threw in an order of fries. Sausage was juicy and onions had that perfect char, fries were crispy, and the crew was quick and chill. Classic late-night spot—never disappoints.

The bone was very large in the pork chop. So they laid it on it's side and the grilled onions were right off the grill very hot. Everything fell inside the bag I burned two fingers slightly and got mustard on my work clothes. I told them about it and they didn't even apologize or offer me a replacement sandwich. I went to Original Jim's next store and I will from now on. There food is better anyways. There lines are usually longer because of that.

I have been coming here for almost 3 decades when I'm visiting the area. The best part here is they can split and grill your Polish Sausage which brings out the flavor from the center of the sausage. They also have an option to add their own homemade spicy mustard. Highly recommend it. They listen carefully to your specific instructions and they are very quick here. There is two places that compete on this street a few steps away from each other. Make sure you go to the one that says "Express Grill", the polish sausage is better in my opinion.
