We attended a free Saturday tea demonstration of matcha whisking. Educational and fun! Friday, the owner is very passionate and friendly. Many loose leaf teas available with creative names. Two visitors from Canada wanted to check out this place after hearing about it online. Nestled in Wallingford I actually didn't know it existed until they asked me to take them there. The store was very clean, they had a sample area set up, the support of LGBTQIA community was clear, they had some delicious tea pastries like danish wedding cookies and jam cookies, etc. from a local bakery on 45th. Their tea collection was respect worthy. But of particular note to me was the customer service. Mori was so great about providing helpful education about the different kinds of teas, what they were known for historically, how they function now, and was like a librarian of teas. This would be one of my first choices for a place to get a solid a tea education.

I love the atmosphere of this place and that I can sit and have warm tea and a conversation or buy some tea to take home. I’ve had no issues with any of the women who work here always a smile or a welcome or hello and love giving tea suggestions and helping choose what I would like based on the tastes I enjoy. The man who works here has never once given me a warm welcome or ever felt like I could ask questions without basically being talked to like I’m stupid. Sorry I don’t work there and know what every damn tea tastes like. If you don’t want to help customers pick a tea or explain a tea then don’t work at a shop that sells tea. The fact that a brought a friend for the first time to this place I enjoy and acknowledged it was my friends first time and then you continue to have the worst attitude ever just like every other time I’ve interacted with you. If someone ask for a suggestion or help you don’t respond shitty and make them feel like that’s a dumb question to ask. I’ve literally listened to this man tell a girl who walked in saying she was trying to find a fun tea for a friend as a gift and wanted some help and he responds with we sell tea bags over there on the shelf. No input on a favorite tea or a tea a lot of regulars come and get. Anytime I’ve interacted with this worker it’s always ruined my mood and makes me not want to ask any questions at all based on there response. This really sucks because I really love supporting a local business I just wish I could ask questions and not get a shit short response fueled by anger and attitude because I’m curious about the tea the one thing you sell. Makes no sense at all.
