Great trail running area in the middle of downtown Los Angeles. Very pleased to have found this area while on vacation and staying in the bustling city. This park gets up a bit higher than the surrounding area so the provided views are great. The trail is semi flat as it winds around the various hills. I wouldn't say any of it is really difficult but some parts wind you around away from an easy exit. You just have to be aware of the loop or path you are about to traverse onto. I did love the graffiti on the rocks. It added a nice LA flare to the trail. Lots of little parks in the surrounding area to explore!

Frogtown Trail is one of those chill little spots in LA that not a lot of people seem to know about. It runs along the LA River, and while it's not a full-on “nature hike,” it’s actually super peaceful and a nice break from the city noise. You’ll see some cool birds, some quirky art, and there are a few cute cafes nearby if you want to grab a coffee after your walk. It’s a great place to walk your dog, go for a jog, or just take a slow stroll. The vibe is very local and relaxed, not super touristy. Some parts of the trail could use a little love (a few bumpy spots here and there) but nothing too crazy.

I’d have to disagree with the previous 2-star review but I also started this trail at the Stadium Way end and finished at the Frogtown Trail marker which started as a wider trail then became narrow but still safe. I would recommend hiking shoes because of some of the hills but I wouldn’t describe this hike as “expert” by any stretch. I will say that the Elysian Loop West on the other side of Stadium Way is a nicer loop.

4.5. Awesome hidden trail at the back of Elysian Park. It’s a single-file path that follows the ridge along I5. Great views of the Elysian Valley (Frogtown) and Verdugo Mountains. The best part is that the trail is shaded from early afternoon, so you can get a good hike without being blasted by the sun. Be alert – this park has its characters, so know where you’re walking. Also keep your footing – there’s no railing to prevent a steep drop into the interstate.

I have been enjoying the Frog Town Trail for about 5 years. Frog Town is that area that follows the LA River just north of the bank. Once upon a time commercial real estate was a real bargain in this bohemian paradise. There are several local Breweries in Frog Town. Not too long ago, most of the vacant commercial spaces around the LA River were abandoned, and boarded up. But now what you see are creative artsy business, like art galleries and Cafe"s. There's even a state of the art, world class gymnastics training facility. It"s worth a look see just to see this impressive gymnasium. It gives me great pleasure to see local Angelinos reaping the benefits of taking the risk to open a new business in an area that was once considered undesirable and are now enjoying the renascence they created. One of the activities that I enjoy the most is to take my bike down to the LA River and ride through Frog Town. There's many great Cafe's. Check out the Bike shop on Riverside Dr. One of my favorite bike shops in LA. Don't forget to wear plenty of the sunscreen. Enjoy!
