Incredible atmosphere at this tennis center. Attended a clinic and 2 mixers while visiting Denver and had a great experience. The staff were helpful on the phone and in person, they really put thought and effort into organizing the mixers and I had a lot of fun. The facility is well taken care of with cold water available throughout the grounds. Everyone was friendly and in a good mood, this place has it figured out.

This place has always been friendly and welcoming. The staff are for sure. :-) Some of the people who play here regularly though are the opposite. Judgy, rude, lacking in compassion and grace - clearly thinking they own the place since they play there so frequently. Hello people. This is not an elitist membership club. It is public which is what makes it so special. “That’s not what we do here” was what a middle-aged man said to me (a middle-aged woman who happens to be a Brit btw hence the unquestionable reference to “not what we do here” as I am clearly some ignorant foreigner who knows no better) during a pickleball open play session when he decided he was in charge of who could do what. The fact that he was offensive is not ok - and he was wrong. He had totally misread the situation, mouthed off then I had to ask him for an apology which he delivered dripping in sarcasm (usually the Brits’ way so also likely deliberate). The whole episode was unnecessary and uncomfortable, not withstanding the fact that I was partnered with someone who has a horrible disease for which exercise such as pickleball is just the tonic. The guy had no compassion, no grace. I never would have expected this kind of attitude from anyone playing at Gates. Unfriendly, unwelcoming and judgemental. Trade deal anyone?

You can reserve courts and ball machines online in advance. You can buy or rent racquets, the offer stringing services, and they have a modest selection of shoes. You can also get some refreshments, but it is not a wide selection. They have their teams for tennis leagues, tennis lessons are offered...all at a pretty reasonable cost without a membership requirement.
