There is a scenic drive on the up to the observatory and once there the views are spectacular, especially at sunset. There were lots of people there but moving around was easy. There is a perfect view of the night sky with several constellations to be seen. The live show in the planetarium far exceeded my expectations. If you’re a fan of astronomy then this is definitely a place to visit when you’re in town.

The view is amazing and the inside of the observatory is very interesting. It will take you a while to read/explore it in it's entirety. They have different shows around the day and also some during night hours. It really is something that everyone should visit and enjoy. Roaming around including all areas inside is free and you only have to pay if you want to attend the show. The souvenir shop has plenty of interesting items, including meteorites.

Attended this location via a LA tour operator for a nighttime LA tour and park vist. All I can say is the park was stunning. Unbelievable sunset views over LA that turned into fantastic night views over the entire area. Griffin observatory was just as spectacular with history in abundance with modern and ancient space related materials, video shows, and much more I couldn't visit. 100% a must visit whilst in LA.

Parking was a nightmare, and though there's no entry fee, we essentially paid $60 to get in as parking fees. We had to drive around the mountain several times before an accessible parking space opened up, as street parking was completely inaccessible with the climb and no sidewalks for wheelchair users. However, once inside, we had an amazing time. We attended all the free talks and demonstrations, and we paid for two planetarium shows. The staff members were talented and knowledgeable, and I was happy to realize that more presentations were given by disabled staff members than not. The only inaccessible thing was the old telescope, which was obviously built before anyone ever considered that anyone would need to get up there in a wheelchair. But since I am an ambulatory wheelchair user, my husband carried my chair up the three steps to get in while I used my cane to get up them. Other visitors were kind enough to let me go ahead of them, and I used my cane to climb the several steps to look through the old telescope. If you are unable to navigate a few stairs, unfortunately you won't be able to do this. But everything else is completely accessible, and staff members were happy to get us in and out of elevators for planetarium access. We had a wonderful day at the Observatory. I highly recommend it to people of all ages and abilities. Check their programming schedule online ahead of time to best plan your visit!
