Great Hike to Mt. Hollywood! We parked at the Greek Theatre and took the Mt. Hollywood Trail for a rewarding hike. The ascent was gradual, making it a pleasant and manageable climb. The trail is well-maintained, and the views at the top are fantastic—offering a great perspective of downtown LA and Griffith Observatory. There are multiple routes to reach this point, but the Mt. Hollywood Trail was a great choice. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a scenic and enjoyable hike!

Trails were in great shape. Nothing to crazy. We went to the Joe Klass water stop. 1,5 mi each way. Took about 25 minutes up. Great wiews of down town and the Greek theater. Seems like parking could be a challege but we got lucky and found some pretty fast. You can still get to the observitory doing this trail but think its another 2.5 from the water stop

Definitely take time to see the scenic view of Los Angeles from this place. It's free. Parking is free. When the Observatory is open at night, it is absolutely amazing and well-organized. Even though the line is long, it doesn't take that long...plus the view is great!

Visited Griffith Observatory during a day trip to Los Angeles in late October 2024. Situated in Griffith Park, it has direct access to hiking trails. Perfect spot to enjoy sunrise and sunset, views of LA and the iconic Hollywood sign while learning a bit about science and astronomy. Definitely a must visit when in Los Angeles.

Christmas Day 2022 I hiked the Griffith Park Observatory trails with my closest friend. At a wonderful 81° we were looking for something to do outside the house, so we trotted over to the park. Parking was easy and it wasn't crowded at all on the trails which we hiked all the way to the top, ending at the Observatory before heading back downhill. There were views for days; and we took great pics, panoramas and selfies which I sent to family out in the freezing regions of the country. They were jealous. This was an unexpectedly great choice for something to do on Christmas Day in LA.
