Amazing food! We had breakfast here. My husband got the downtown shrimp and grits and I got the uptown. We split a waffle combo for my kids and they loved everything. Especially the shrimp and grits. Server was so kind and warm hearted, we had the best experience and would definitely be back and recommend to anyone visiting Portland.

Amazing food, great atmosphere, attentive service. The plates are HUGE. Had we known they are so gigantic, we would have ordered one plate and split it. So come super hungry or be prepared to take leftovers. Highly recommended. I think half the black folks in Portland were there, so you know it's gonna be good! Bonus points for the music -- always good to hear Chaka Khan and The Gap Band while chowing down.

Great vibes and art. Came on a random Wednesday around 7P and our group of 4 got a table right away. I like my food hot and I really wanted to ask for them to warm up my plate. The catfish was good and the flavor was on point. Greens have no meat and too many stems in it but with some salt was edible and the red beans and rice had 2 tablespoons of red beans and tasted like they came out of a can. Overall, decent meal but definitely a one and done experience. Friend said the vegan gumbo lacked flavor, but the vegan chicken was flavorful. Giving 2 stars for service because once the food came server never checked in until we got up to go find her to ask for the bill and it was not busy enough for the lack of attention.

My family and I wanted to try and new place and settled on Grits N' Gravy. We were not disappointed!! The atmosphere here was just amazing and felt alive! The staff were courteous and so friendly!! The food here was absolutely amazing. The last time I had grits this good was when I was in New Orleans many years ago. My daughter had the pancakes, and they were fluffy and delicious. My wife tried the fried catfish, and it was superb. I tried her catfish and it's been a long time for me since I had catfish done that well.
