I ordered the Salt and Pepper Tofu along with Xiao Long Soup Dumplings. The Tofu was heavenly, what tasted like soft tofu fried crisply just right that melted in your mouth. The soup dumplings were okay and had less soup than I was expecting but I appreciate how they were not scalding hot when brought out. The highlight of my experience was the service, everyone was very kind and welcoming.

They were packed but the hostess made it work. She was so fun and friendly, did what she could to make sure everyone was taken care of. Despite it being full, the service was fast, food was fresh, and so good! I ordered sautéed lamb with ginger, Korean beed fried rice, chicken and cabbage dumplings, Vietnamese eggrolls, mango chicken, and fried eggplant. Everything was good and that's no exaggeration, the dumplings had so much flavor, eggplant was soft on the inside and crispy on the outside, the mango chicken was crispy and delicious. I'd go back and try more items.

Don't order the sushi. You can order anything else and it should be good quality. The sushi, since it's not as popular, was not good at all. I made the mistake of ordering some nigiri, super dry and chewy. Their famous Xiao long bao are always great and fresh. Their hand pulled noodles were delicious as well. It has a nice chewy texture. Def recommended.

Overall, I wasn’t very pleased with my meal. The dumplings were extremely dry, and I really wish there had been a fresh sauce to go with them. My main dish was also overly oily, which made it hard to enjoy. I would have appreciated a better recommendation from the server to help guide my choice.

Hing Kee delivers solid, satisfying Chinese fare—but let’s get straight to the highlight: the soup dumplings. Easily among the best I’ve had in Chicago. The wrappers were delicate yet sturdy, the broth inside was rich and flavorful, and the filling had that perfect savory punch. One bite and you’re hooked. The rest of the meal held its own—good portions, well-seasoned dishes, and a casual vibe that makes it easy to settle in and feast. If you’re on a dumpling quest, Hing Kee should be on your map.
