I am working on my NC Home Inspector License and took my 80 hour in-person class as well as my 120 hour classroom portion with ICA. My in-person instructor was Floyd Gibbs. He took my confidence from a 4 to a 10. It's nearly impossible to pack 20+ years of experience into 80 hours but Floyd finds a way. He challenges us to think critically about issues we are faced with and forces us to make a determination. It sounds intimidating but it's absolutely necessary and character building to say the least. He puts us in situations that, if we encountered them in real life, we probably would have been out of business... But experiencing them in the classroom helps you develop thoughtful answers and gives you a wealth of knowledge to pull from. Another thing worth noting is that Floyd gave us information that spans across decades. I'm not calling him old here... I am saying that knowing that going into a home built in the 90s is going to have different issues than the 80s house and 70s and so forth is worth its weight in gold. Again, all this information he shares boosts your confidence through the roof. I came in feeling like I was on an island and left feeling like a part of the family. ICA or bust.
