I was referred to Dr. Uribe after another ‘doctor’ From a pain management company performed a MILD ( minimally invasive lumbar decompression) procedure on my back on 8/1. I was told I would walk out of the ‘procedure’ well. In fact I scheduled my vacation for the next week. The reality is I can hardly stand or walk I am in such pain. Also the pain doctor lied on his written assessment of me, denying I was in pain. I met with Dr. Uribe yesterday and when he said he would take on my case I almost wept from gratitude…it was the reality of going from the worst to the very best in the world. Dr. Uribe presented a most realistic picture of the situation: my age, osteoporosis and certain other factors were not favorable to the surgery. He did say the per cent age was very much in my favor for a successful outcome. Besides my interaction with Dr. Uribe, I was grateful to Brianna for letting me know that the initial days after my surgery might well be quite painful as I recover. Dr. Uribe told me my recovery would be 6 weeks so I am planning accordingly. My heart is full of appreciation for Dr. Uribe and his team. I feel a peace going into my surgery next week, knowing what extraordinarily capable hands I am in. It is even more of a blessing than ever after my previous experience.

I won the doctor lottery when I was referred to Dr. Uribe! Not only is he a dextrous surgeon known for his innovative work, he is also an incredibly caring communicator. He came prepared to my initial consultation, having read my chart and analyzed my MRI and EMG results ahead of time. He asked me questions, patiently listened, and even asked follow up questions. After that, he thoroughly explained my need for surgery and my two surgical options, along with their possible short & long term risks. Together, we decided a double fusion was better for me than disc replacements. I was very impressed with the hospital and all of the various nurses and doctors that contributed to my care. My C5-C7 (double) fusion, performed by Dr. Uribe along with Fellow Dr. Choy, was a huge success! My debilitating neuropathy, pain, and frequent temporary paralysis are gone! In the six weeks since my surgery, my pain has subsided, my incision has healed, and I have worked up from walking 15 minutes to 40 minutes a day. From the very beginning, Dr. Uribe has expressed serious concern for my well-being and won my complete confidence.
