Govinda, the owner of this food truck, is a true hero. He runs this truck as a personal mission to do his part in battling food insecurity. His plates are priced at $5 (but really, this is a suggested donation and he never turns you away if you're in need). Everything in the truck is vegan, partly due to his religious beliefs (Hare Krishna) and partly to accommodate every srudents' dietary preferences. Each plate is packed with flavor, nutrition, and love. He runs a set menu for each day of the week. It always comes with a glass of lemonade and chips. Don't worry about the portion sizes. You're sure to leave satisfied. But most importantly, the owner is a genuinely good person. He always stands outside his food truck, personally greeting customers and taking their orders. He takes great pride in his work and is always ecstatic to share updates about how his business is doing and how much he is helping his community. I've spoken to him many times and he understands the food insecurity crisis that students face, hence the pricing and proximity to UCLA. In order to break even, he must sell 70 plates daily, so please frequent this place as much as you can.

This was absolutely delicious—freshly made to order! What makes it even better is the mission behind it: offering affordable, fresh, and healthy meals to everyone. It's more than just good food; it's a good cause. Supporting a mission like this doesn't just satisfy your appetite—it feeds your soul. Definitely newsworthy and worth sharing! Team Smiley

I’ve eaten at this truck several times since it’s been open and what I love most is the concept. A place where college students and the public can purchase a healthy balanced vegan meal for a mere $5 donation! I should also note that I’ve seen students who didn’t have it receive their meal free of charge! And the guy running the truck is the sweetest, his energy is so loving- you can can tell he genuinely loves what he’s doing. The meal usually consists of some type of vegan curry, rice and beans, a dessert and a lemonade! You can also purchase samosas and a few other desserts when available! I like how they add the corn tortilla chips on top for those of us who want a little crunch! I’m at UCLA often, so I’ve seen this truck grow over the years but one thing that says consistent is the warmth that radiates from this man every time he hands you your food!

Govinda is just incredible! His food is excellent, and the portion sizes are generous. He has a different meal every week day. I go once a week! Would definitely recommend. ☺️

All volunteer run vegetarian/ vegan food truck with a large plate of food, dessert and drink for a suggested donation of $5. Possibly the most bang for your buck in this neighborhood. The Tuesday lunch deal is mildly seasoned and flavorful.
